Hi guys, I appreciate the topic of the effect of Panda on Adsense has no doubt been discussed to death on here and everywhere else... But I just want to gather some of your thoughts on what I am picking up on what Google are wanting from our websites here... You have the one hand where Google Adsense keep contacting us all with their typical message about 'How to optimise our sites to maximise adsense performance' often reminding us how we should have the maximum units allowed per page and how we should ensure they are all in prime positions (mainly above the fold etc)... Then we get Google (Search team) telling us that sites plastered with Adsense and/or sites with Adsense right at the top of the pages WILL get penalised... Recently I have been removing half of my Adsense units and I have been dropping them a tad lower on each page (i.e. not giving dominance to them) and I have noticed a sharp increase in my rankings on those sites I am testing. I do in a way understand why they are doing this, to create better sites for their visitors, however I just can't get my head around why they are shooting themselves in the foot by demoting sites that are not just only trying to earn a revenue from, but are infact helping Google in creating THEIR main revenue too? Have you given less preference to Adsense to rank your site better or have you found other ways of doing this whilst keeping your Adsense revenue to a maximum? Interested in your thoughts...
I must admit that I am not too bothered about that. One thing I'm trying on my most recent site is to have only 3 adsense ads on the page in a prominent position and hope for the best.
I don't really get your point. Ignoring link ad units, that is the maximum ad units you're allowed to have.
I moved my ad block a little higher up at the start of the month and my traffic and revenue have absolutely skyrocketed. Beats sitting around on the last few days of the month hoping you'll get that extra few cents to make it over $150 and get paid.
I prefer to add 1 image ads and 1 text ads then 1 link ads atm its a safer way to do this than getting extra few cents
It's true that google considers pages with greater ads spammy and of less value to publishers. Google also keeps me informing about 300 ways to earn more I just ignore them.
