Backlinkwatch sometimes shows the error message. If your website having more than 1000 back-links, but still now it showing 1000 back-links. Yahoo is the best site to check back-links. In Yahoo search box place type link:www.domianname.com . You can get back-links of the website.

If you want to check your backlinks there are three ways I would recommend. One is to search Yahoo for "site:domain.com" without the quotes. This will show you every backlink including follow and no follow. I recommend exporting the list into a CSV file and looking at it in Excel so you can makes notes on each link. There is also Majestic SEO which will show you every backlinks including an ACRank value which is similar to page rank but specific to Majestic. Majestic will also show you the history of the backlinks and if they still exist on the pages or if they have been removed. The historical part is very interesting because you can see if there are any spikes in the creation of backlinks. The last tool I would recommend is SEOmoz's Open Site Explorer, it is a paid service but even with their free account you can still see the follow and no follow links, the page authority and domain authority of the links as well as the anchor text. I hope this helps. Thanks! Happy Link Building. -Nathan
