Its great to see people awakening to the fact that this is not really happening. Its great to see people take responsibility for their leader's actions and try to fix them and make the world a better place to live. I am fairly confident that the USA is completely fed up with the actions of politicians and bankers. Success for the 99 percent !

Agreed, but the ones who pretend to represent are likely to send their followers down the river bank.

There are even those who are trying to contaminate the protest with communism. The results of this should be interesting. For those reading, remember there are only two forms of government :

    1) Think and act for yourself.
    2) Have others think and act for you.

    #1 is liberty
    #2 is slavery

    Choose wisely.

Quick question: Out of all the revolutions in history, which ones led to something better?

Probably the Neolithic Revolution. Going from hunter gatherer to an agriculture based society meant we no longer had to rely on luck, could settle down permanently and of course, brew beer!

U.S. revolution, and the French Revolution (eventually). I can't think of any other.

That is a very wide-ranging statement. So far it looks like nearly everyone is only applying their answers to the Western world. Mia was different. I am still thinking but I will have to do plenty of research in history to give a good answer. For now, I guess I would go with Mia's answer. You said "all the revolutions in history".

So how come people don't have a higher standard of living considering machines do all the work for us?

What I am looking at is the history of democracy in addition to other society setups which worked. Now, there is no universal agreement on democracy as a to what the term means exactly.

In the 1,800s we have seen new systems come up under the term democracy, but those were not necessarily the same as the ancient Greeks promoted.

Basically I would like to be able to see if there was ever a system that worked well which was not being destroyed from within but rather through outside forces taking over.

They don't do all our work for us. They were never designed to.
They were designed to do our thinking for us and they've done that very well. ;)
So much so, that very few of us can still think for ourselves.

Yeah, but are we really financially more capable than people back then? We should be. My guess would be that the bankers before the revolution had things set up so that 90% of the profits would already be funneled into their pockets before we even see a penny.

    We never have been.
There has always been favouritism in politics and business.
The very practice of fractional reserve banking ensures that the playing field will never be level as long as we continue under this system.
Who (besides bankers and politicians) is allowed to sell something they don't have and not go to jail for it?

Well, the way it is now, they just need to kick back and any transaction not done under the table provides them with a significant cut.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_Revolution

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congress_Vienna

The Congress of Vienna took place in 1815 which was when politics started being controlled by the bankers directly, shifting the power from the Vatican and the Royals directly into their hands by enabling them to elevate more financially challenged individuals of their choice into the parliaments and ultimately controlling the economy politically in addition to manipulating the banking system with Rome's and Hannover's permission.

Of course, Vienna was no coincidence considering the House of Rothschild just happened to be there.

But not everyone wants to go there, so whoever is interested can find more information here.

The bottom line is while the industrial revolution occurred, the bankers became more powerful than ever which as I suspect led to the population never to be able to enjoy their lives as they could have considering the convenience machinery added into their work days as a system was being set up to ensure people are always going to be one step behind. Which of course also is the people's fault and a reason why I try to reach the brighter ones in the "movement" to stop repeating the same mindless mistake of head over heals jumping into a sea called hope which will be around 1 foot deep.

That is an easy question. The answer is selfishness. Those countries that are at a high level of use of machines in daily life are those who are in control of much of the world. Germany and Japan are good examples. China is much more industrialized and look at them now.

I was surprised to learn that Germany could turn themselves around so fast after losing in World War 1 and try it again in around thirty years. They are very talented in handling machinery. They sell the best cars in my opinion. But they are not so good at charity, so other nations are lagging behind in technology, which ultimately benefits the German nation.

I remember that the USA gave nuclear technology to India a few years back. Why did they do that ? Why would my country give away a powerful technology like that?
