Achieving Good Rank: Large Site or Network of Sites?

I searched the forum for a while and couldn't find where this question had been asked yet. My apologies if it's already been posted.

I know everyone is always talking about ringtones etc. so I'll use that as an example. Which method would be better to achieve a good page rank and generate good traffic:

a) Large site with mulipte pages that featured ringtones, cellular company signups, hardware like cases, cables, chargers etc.

b) Multiple small sites where each one covered only one niche like hardware or ringtones, and each site had liinks to the others.

c) None of the above. (Please list what you think would work better here)

Good site with orginal content and lot of backlinks from high pr revelant sites will get u good pr.

 

I would say one large site featuring multiple pages for ringtones, cellular company signups, hardware like cases, cables, chargers etc with original content, quality backlinks, relevant page titles and keywords etc. Having multiple sites for every single niche is only going to make you put in more optimization efforts for each one. Also getting quality links for separate mini sites is not easy as compared to a large site.
