ive been putting alexa on dozens of machines, and setting my site as the homepage. ive also used windows task manager to automatically loud random pages and random times. different toolbars, different machines, & different ips. is this overkill? too time consuming. alexa data is very important for a very specfic purpose.
WHy would you want to do that. I mean if you fake your Alexa ranking and people advertise with you based on that, don't you think they will figure you out and leave? After you've burned through all of the advertisers you can, you're never going to do well, even if you honestly get a high ranking.
Your faking isn't working, it's the people in this thread that are viewing it that is causing it. Page Views per user: Today 1 wk. Avg. 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change 5.5 6.6 5.6 Those numbers would be a lot higher, considering your IP is semi-static or static. BTW Alexa updates around 3PM EST every day.
My non faked alexa is better for some sites then this. Means faking alexa is waste. Instead you can try SEO But good to hear that you atleast did it
What are you implying here? We are trying to determine how valid Alexa is. I have contented for a while now that Alexa CANNOT be manipulated. I could care less if you are honest...
Its not worth the bandwidth, I have low rankings on my site and yet i get alot more traffic than another site i used to own which was in top 100k.
Go for it - I have been challenging people for months now. No one has been able to show any true manipulation of Alexa.
I could easily get a program/macros to grab a list of 1000000000 proxies, check them, visit my site 6 times with each proxy etc or use a bot net or whatever. Shame I'm too lazy... Also if someone found out how the information is sent and how the information is encoded between the toolbar and alexa, they could edit it but that's COMPLICATED! Anyway have fun guys.
A local newpaper uses Alexa data to rank the top 10 sites in my industry. Thus a nice Alexa rank is very important to me! It is VERY VALUABLE for my specific public relations purpose of being in the top 10 list. We have a nice natural ranking, but our competitors are large NYC REAL ESTATE moguls - billion dollar companies. I agree, its useless for many, and concentrating efforts to manipulate alexa is worthless for most. I am the rare exception to the rule. If you were in my shoes, and had $10,000 to spend on lowering your Alexa rank, where would you spend it? My guess is to "buy" traffic from sites that have a higher probability of Alexa TB users, like DP and Internet marketing sites.
I have a DYNAMIC Ip address. Everytime i login, i get a new IP address. Obviously the faking isnt working, which means that the test by reloading the browser 10k times never worked. So alexa isnt bad but it isnt good. Rob
Umm guys. Aren't you all forgetting about the alexa autosurfs? People automatically visit your site from their unique IP AND unique alexa rank. They still work (to my knowledge).
Umm... I didnt know they existed, but they most probably work, but everyone must have their toolbar installed, how do they moderate such a thing? Rob
