Confirmed . NATO forces have spotted a man carrying a mobile server on his back . He was constantly mumbling a short English words and numbers , intelligence analysts believe that he was talking in PHP .
There could be two possible reasons for the location tab displaying supposedly wrong info: 1. OP unintentionally used some sort of proxy etc that time. Without realizing it. 2. A not-so-accurate Geo location database. A lot many sites detect me in France when I actually am in Germany that time. Rest, let's wait for Shawn.
Think real hard and see if you can come up with another option to explain that post in this thread - otherwise just wait for Shawn to get back from Afghanistan.
...or the OP is in Australia itself? He has mentioned "Australia" in his own words as his location, so...
I hope everyone realizes that dcristo made a joke and he really is from Australia , just like Ausrez if from India .
Yup, there were. I was under impression that such threads are geared towards discussing the rather serious aspects of a recently implemented feature instead of some quick mocks. Not to mind anyways. I was lost in some farm in Afghanistan with Shawn preparing the same.
Principally I'm not necessarily opposed to the “True Country†feature. I understand that spammers can be a problem, but honestly I'm a bit put off by the racist attitude of some of the people here on this board. For instance I just received a negative rep with this comment: “We're seriously meant to take someone who signs themselves off as Brown Crow seriously?†I'm white as only a person living in Northern Europe can be, and I think that if people here give negative reputation to people based on what they assume is colour of their skin, then it would perhaps be better if we just removed it completely. Racism is a much bigger problem on this planet than Indian spammers will ever be.
Uh... that rep comment didn't sound racist to me... they just thought it was a silly username is all. They probably would think White Crow or Green Crow would be silly too?
So we can give negative rep based on whether or not we like the username of someone? There are a lot of strange usernames on this board, and I find it very unlikely that someone would have added such a comment if my username was "White Crow". (I added my location after this.)
Another thing: What about people who use the reputation system because they are too cowardly to make an post in the thread themselves? I just received this negative rep as an "answer" to my post above: "not racism, but racism is just words. Indian spammers actually ruin people lifes. Financially and in other ways. So go fuk urself..."
To be honest, I think it's kind of racist of you to assume that someone would definitely like your username if it contained the word "white". lol But to answer your question, yes... someone can give you rep for liking or disliking your username if they want. If someone gives you negative rep for anything, it also hurts their OWN rep, so people generally don't do it maliciously. It's not moderated, but it is "admined". There are plenty of people who have been banned because of rep they left. Just ask Helvetii. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2169822
