    According to paypal...
    Account Updates
Receiving Limit Raised to USD 3000 per transaction
In order to comply with the RBI Guidelines, all PayPal users in India must:

Add a Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Purpose Code.
By adding this information, you will continue to receive export-related payments into your PayPal account and your account will not be limited from receiving future payments.
Add a bank account in India.
This will help us to auto withdraw your PayPal balance out of your PayPal account and transfer your balance to your bank account in India. Note: If you don't add a bank account in India to your PayPal account then your PayPal account will also be limited from receiving export-related payments.

Now you will be able to receive export-related payments of up to USD 3000 per transaction into your PayPal account.

    Thanks and Regards

I didn't receive any mails regarding this. But they published this in their blog. It's not such a great news. They need to allow us to pay using PayPal balance.

Atleast something is better than nothing. :)
So, be happy in what you get at the moment. May be in future they will fulfill all your wishes. :D only if RBI allows them.

Yes, I also received this mail from PayPal.
At least, something happened favorable for the small freelancers in India.
Next steps should be to allow payments from the funds in a/c and to increase the days of holding funds in the a/c, instead of auto-withdrawal daily (which is really irritating).

This sounds like good news (I got the mail too but it ended up in my spam folder). But given PayPal's "reputation" I prefer to take everything with a pinch of salt.

One day there's talk of reversing back all transactions above $500 (along with that PAN card issue), and the other day they joyfully announce that the receiving limit has been raised to $3000

Heart attack nahin hoga to kya hoga ;)

PayPal receiving limit has been raised to $3000 as per RBI's guideline.

Strange, Reserve Bank of India needs to modify the circular. It still says $500 per transaction.
