Namecheap makes you use credit card now?

Does namecheap make you use a credit card now to register domains?

I registered one earlier just fine with the money in the paypal account.

What i usually do is add the funds from my paypal account into the namecheap one and register the domain. This has always worked.

I tried to register a domain now and i go through the "add funds from paypal" and i put int $7.99 and click next and now it takes me to some paypal page that wants me to put my credit card and other weird info in.

i hope they are just having an error because they are the best (or was) registrar, mostly because they accepted paypal.

is anyone else getting this problem?
I have contacted their sales support to see if its a new change, but i hope its really just a server problem. They've been having those alot lately.

Looks like registerfly is the new namecheap and namecheap is the new godaddy.

In that page you got there must be a part that says "already have a paypal account? login to your account here" or something like that

I really hope its just another server/site problem. They've been having tons of them lately. I don't wanna move to another host.

I'm debating if i should wait this out or go ahead and register the domain at idotz

Dam. I have 22 domains at namecheap. It will be a bitch to move them to registerfly.

I just checked myself. It is true, they dont accept paypal anymore. The system is WORSE than godaddys system, because you dont have to and you cant login.

I will send support an email later asking why. But all they will say is that there was too much fraud, i can garentee...

Doesn't seem that they don't accept paypal, rather seems to be a screwup in their deposit page

I tested this just now. Here's what happened for me:

    1. Searched for domain, saw it's available.

    2. Chose express checkout.

    3. Logged in.

    4. Saw 2 payment options: Pay using the funds available in your account, and
    Pay using credit card.

    5. Choose first and clicked Proceed To Secure Payment.

    6. Since I have no funds in my account, I clicked Add Funds to your account.

    7. Clicked Add Funds using PayPal.

If Namecheap decides to not accept PayPal at some point, they'll likely have a
very good reason. Registerfly didn't accept PayPal for some time because they
experienced a lot of problems accepting and processing registration payments
through them, especially when some were disputed for whatever reason.

When someone successfully disputes a payment for registering a domain, the
registrar ends up paying both the registration fee and any other fees with it.
    They shell out the following:

    1. The original registration fee.

    2. The $6 they pay to the Verisign COM NET Registry for every .com they do
accept in their systems (or whatever charge for whatever extension).

    3. The $0.25 ICANN fee.

    4. The administrative fee for the dispute (e.g. chargeback fee, which can cost
on average $100 per domain name).

Chances are something similar above happened to Registerfly. And when they
started piling up after some time, they decided to cut their losses rather than
    risk further financial bleeding.

And if that happens to Namecheap or any other registrar, can you really blame
them for such? I guess you would if you don't care about the problems they
go through should such a thing occur.

You don't like it, then choose to go elsewhere. No one's forcing you to remain
with Namecheap or any other provider, and no one's forcing you to agree to
    their policies and/or decisions either.

It's easier to bitch when one doesn't bother to find out what it's like being on
    the other side.
