Find a suitable category, submit, forget.

    Nothing more too it!

THough, if you must know more, simply read their guidelines!

You're looking for some secret back door? Sorry to disappoint you but there isn't one.

Just do what millions of other website owners do: Suggest your website to the one best category once. That's it. If it's listable, we'll eventually list it.

Q has it right. It really is that easy.

I really don't know, but it IS that easy. There is no difference in the ODP then any other directory, at least as far as submitting your site goes. Them getting around to looking at it is another matter, which no one can answer or even help you with.

if you do happen to find out more then SUBMIT & FORGET, then please share it with the rest of the class.

On the flip side, other sites have done well with the motto FORGET 2 SUBMIT, as they are listed, and never submitted (My sites are currently 50/50 with the two).

But remember it can take from a few days to a few YEARS for a volunteer editor to volunteer to work that section and use the suggestions pool, so it is no good asking in a couple of weeks, months or years what has happened to your site.If it complies with guidelines then it waits for that volunteer to come along.

Try what? If you have already submitted, then you have done all you can do. Doing anything more, such as submitting more than once is against their guidelines and is more likely to hurt rather than help you.

WOW... how did you find out they already submitted? They are asking for how to submit, seems an odd thing that they submit THEN ask how *boggle*

Do you actually read the threads in this board, of do you just randomly quote previous posts in threads and troll them?

there are no backdoors to DMOZ.
you have to reat the guidelines and rules very carefully. you even have to restructure your website and change metatags sometimes to fit categories. their directory is not so huge, acceptance is very strict

I'd have thought it far more constructive to structure a website to meet the needs of its surfers. As to metatags, I don't know any editors that read them.

It's a difficult process, and Qryztufre's is right. You have to submit your request and then forget about it. Most of the time it can take 6 months to a year to be listed in DMOZ according to my clients. I believe the site says 2 to 4 months in their guidelines.

I would suggest taking a looking at this DMOZ information http://www.evolt.org/how_to_get_listed_in_dmoz, it's extensive and should provide you with all the answers you seek.

    Good Luck~

"up to two weeks or more" I believe is the official answer... which, with the 'up to' at the beginning and the 'or more' at the end certainly leaves ANY answer a correct one ;)

Thats total BS. There a bunch of old and expired tripod and angelfire sites still left in the directory when I checked 2 months ago and they failed to list some of the biggest sites in the industry.
