Doubt about Link Building

    I have gone through many link building post but i am still confused about the link building. As of my knowledge it's creating a back link to a website or a page. For that mainly i do Article submission, Directory submission, Blog comment's and link exchange etc. Link building is mainly for me the process of exchanging link with other niche website . But if i have a website for that i don't want to exchange any link but i want to create for mine. So for this scenario what should the meaning for link building is ?

    To being expert link building expert what quality should i have in me ?

    Your sites reputation is largely dependent on how many sites link to your site. This determines the relevance of your site, often measured by Google PageRank.

    The best thing to do is promote your URL by blog commenting and getting involved in interent communities. This will gain your site exposure as well as build links.

    You should have to try only one way link exchange process like blog posting,blog comments with relevant blogs and relevant comments,Forum post and Article post with fresh content.
