Recently I have noticed a huge drop in visits. Now we are talking about a site here that has been steadily getting 2k visits for over 4 years. It is a very helpful completely original site No keyword positions have changed However since I added a Facebook Friends Widget traffic and site usage has dropped like I have never seen
I don't think that could be the reason, serps often change, so work on getting backlinks, and you will get your rankings back.
How has that got anything to do with google? Its obvious your visitors dont like the facebook widget if nothing else has changed. Consider removing the widget.
LOL amusing. I wouldn't put it above Google to do it if they really wanted to, and we all know they could, but I don't think it's a necessity and too easy to find out and link back to them. It'd be a Public Relations nightmare. Google can win most confrontations just by doing what it does best: providing an amazing, free service.
Maybe because google is afraid of losing domination .. But that won't happen.. Google will still beat facebook,.
Newer, Google is a blatant search engine and facebook started in near time. It can be opposite that the Facebook will closed and Google will remain King of all search engines.
Facebook has one major plus point: users, lots of them. 250 million registered users, to be correct, 30 million of whom bring up to date their status at least once per day. What they don’t have is users who are used to sharing their status updates with the world, but they’re trying to change that. Google still gets more than twice as many visitors as Facebook, but how might that change if Facebook and the new engineering additions from team FriendFeed figure out how to slice and dice that user data in real-time? No one has yet really cracked the real-time or social search egg, but if Facebook can do it, its roughly hundreds of millions of monthly visitors could become hundreds of millions of monthly searchers – and that’s very monetizable and very dangerous to Google’s core business.
Last I heard social media and "likes" were good things to get your pages ranking higher in google. Also I think there was an algorithm change recently. I dropped from #3 to #5 for "carbon fiber hoods" around the very beginning of November. I didn't see any improvement in my competition and I remember reading something about and algorithm change from Google so maybe that was it.
Indeed, when we want to translate from English into Japanese the sentence « i hate you », the Google translator us answers with the word »Facebook ». Very curious! So one wonders if it’s a bug but very hard to believe that a bug makes appear the name of the company’s search engine enemy, Facebook. You can test for yourself by going to Google translation. But you must know that if wewrite the sentence without a capital, the translation is apparently correct since the wordno longer appears. http://translate.google.fr/#en|ja|I HATE YOU
Facebook is the main competitor for Google++.but Google can't compete with Facebook popularity and satisfaction
I believe that google will make quite a dent in facebook, they do things differently, facebook has an approach of make a change whether you like it or not then let users adapt to the changes, google performs changes in a way that appears more friendly and i would say that most would trust their info with google than facebook, facebook has the potential to become boring and people will jump to the next thing, google has so many useful services and having them under the same account makes sense and is more convenient. Facebook clearly copied google + recently, thats not a good thing, .More power to google i say.
I agree with above point that Google is trying to beat the facebook...Let see and it will take time for beat the facebook dear..
Not at all, google + grew faster within just a few weeks, more than facebook did, before google + was even fully open to everyone, facebook doesn't satisfy, its just popular, that can easily be beat.
