A few months ago I had to write a few articles (lenses) in squidoo. (I got paid to do it.) As soon as I published them I forgot about them and never bothered to look at them. Yesterday I needed something from one of these articles and when I checked it I was surprised to see that it has a PR2. Turned out about 35 of my lenses had pr1 or pr2. I guess it would be awesome to put links there pointing to my website. I know Squidoo allows for do-follow links (a certain amount in each article) but I am not sure if Google counts them. It looks like yahoo site explorer doesn't. Does anyone have any experience with squidoo? Is it possible links there to have negative effect on my website? Or do you think it is possible to sell links on them? Do you think anyone would be interested in buying a link on a squidoo lens? Almost all of them are travel related. Thank you for your help.
I know from my own experience that Google counts such links as they are visible in backlinks reports I make for my site. I don't think thay are likely to harm a site rankings, quite on the contrary - if your lense is intresting and popular you will get benefits from it.
Definitely yes.. And have a very good domain authority . I have 30 lenses on Squidoo on different niches .
The general rule for these sites like Squidoo, to see if they count I mean, is to see if they're structured like a social networking site (Twitter, FB, etc.) If they are, then chances are, the links made on them won't be of any use. Worse comes to worse, just get a Nofollow plugin for your browser and see if they count.
Squidoo lenses are the best option to create contextual linking, depending on the quality of content and its authority, a do follow link back with relevance is held in high regard by Google.
Yes Google would definitely count them. I doubt they get given much importance though as Google knows that anyone can create links from Squidoo. Still, Google expects to see a mix of varied links so they're definitely still worth having.
Squido lens is one of the most popular means of Back linking. and yes Google accept the links from them. thanks
I know from personal experience that Google has these links are displayed back to report that I link to my site. I do not think they can damage your ranking of the site, on the contrary - if the lens is an attractive and popular you get benefits from it.
You can go to squidoo and read all the information you need. There are a lot of lenses discussing the policy on backlinks in the body as well as in modules.
it counts but not sure, as squidoo lenses doesn't have any approval parameters, google reviews the way articles are approved. so its doubtful. i have 7 lenses on squidoo
