HiI've added my website into my DigitalPoint Signature so that I can improve my backlinks while I enjoy this website and collect millions of usefull tips. But I found that the Link to my website in my signature in NOFOLLOW. Is there any use in placing a link in my signature for backlinks??Can someone help me shed some light on this issue. Is there any other forums that you know of that I can use for backlinking? Thanks

Signature links of free members are NOfollow, while premium members are DOfollow. See this thread.

Exactly. As are any links you post within a post itself.

Damn... that throws that idea out the window. And yes I'am willing to become a Premium Member, but all the good Forums is based on US$. Beeing a South Africa with an exchange rate of $1=R10 means that I will pay R250 per month to become a Premium Member. Will not make financially sence...Damn, Damn, Damn - this is not good as I just started to like the forum and also thought that I will get 2x jobs done at once eg. backlinking and learning. :(

If the only value you find in posting is because you can get a few useless links, you would definitely be better off on a site that isn't nofollow. :)

It do make sense to make the forum NoFollow as there is lots of users that use it for spammy useless posts - that I understand. For me I find this forum very useful and will continue to contibute.

Yes, not all search engines obey the nofollow command and they may just have some useful traffic for you.

And the humans who read your posts may decide to visit your site, and they may use it to get a sense of who you are. Is your site MFA or representing a business for instance.

Before you sign up for a forum and invest time and effort its worth checking out the nofollow status against the posts that already exist.

Saying this, My friend posted a link on here quite some time ago and still has the backlinks. he's isnt a premium member but signed up 2008.

    Does this count as anything?

Edit: P.S I forgot to mention that this isn't spam, on alot of forums people post complete *?!#, this isn't one of those posts :)

Picking an old post at random: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=187978#post1926085

That link will only count until the page is reindexed - which could be quite a while if left to sit quietly with no new links pointing to it etc.

It won't be THAT long... Google Webmaster Tools shows an average of 351,154 pages spidered every day (high of 640,513 and low of 137,268).

Even-though the links seem to be no-follow, no-follow links still can impact ranking. It just doesn't pass the "juice". You can upgrade to a premium membership. There are many other ways to obtain back links. :)
