Honestly, sometimes i wish I could click on the adds that show up on my pages, I used to be able to hover over them and see the addy .. and get there that way.. but hell, it's my website, so obviously i'm interested in the topic ;)

My users got there somehow, likely they searched for keywords, so theyre interested too.. and that's who clicks on adsense :p

You are right. Most of the members in this forum are webmaster , so they know it is an advertisement. But a typical browser cant know the difference between the normal links and adsense links.

But I do click on the ads on other websites, if and only if I got interested in the title.

I didn't think much of that article. It doesn't mention that people don't see that ads are ads. So once an elderly person is no longer afraid of the internet, they will click on ads not realizing they are ads. They also have less motor-skils and are therefore more likely to miss-click and be annoyed at where they came out, and have no idea how to get back to where they were.

People in their fifties and generally normal internet-users of any age will still mistake ads for content - why do you think we all try to 'blend' our ads? People don't actually read everything before they click - clicking is a reflex-reaction in the sense that we often click in a split-second before we've taken in the rest of the content of the page.

Most people don't even know the beginning of the relationship between the advertisement and the site author. Think for a moment about the sponsored links to the right of google search results. Then think waaay back to browsing the web before you started learning about those advertising methods. Thinking way back try to remember how you viewed sites with advertisements.

The way I remember it, for all I knew the advertisements were things the site-maker personally wanted me to see.

.. wandering away from the topic.. I own http://www.jammiesatwork.com It has a reviews section, where I list mystery shopping jobs.. Party Plan companies.. etc...

Anyway, the point is.. aside from party plans, as my site states.. nothing there costs any money. No $$ for info etc...

Anyway the other day .. I got the cutest lil letter obviously from an elderly person, that clicked a google add, filled out all nessisary forms, and then was asked to pay $40 for info on making $$ filling out those stupid email surveys..

Just an example, I did end up explaining the difference between "Jammies at Work" and "google advertisements"

At any rate, even though I'm sure the look changed alot, she never knew she left my site, and was pretty damn pissed off that I'd been lieing to her alla this time ;) .. I don't even list the survey sites, I might now.. uhg.. because I know she wants them.. and adding them will probably make her smile.. but .. been there .. done that.. my email box has never recovered!

If a student/worker is close to a deadline and sees an Advertisement. The student/worker will be in a hurry and click on the ad if it provides value to the person.

Anyone that browses the internet, but does not build websites, will likely have no idea what the heck adsense is..

believe it or not, more people look at websites than create them..

Yes but there are something like 101,500,000 websites right now :D when in may 2004 it was "only" about 50 millions. Too much people sucking google cash :p

http://www.angelfire.com/or2/MzCathy this is a website, it's been around more than 10 years, when I made it I had no idea what the heck I was doing, thre are still plenty of folks making websites for the same reason, they want one. Not so much to profit.. just so that it's there ;) there's a few banners now, but believe me its a relic that earns nodda :p

Do they display adsense on youtube? I have only seen ads such as O2 and Orange being displayed.
