There are SEO everywhere. Every second person found in internet seems to be a SEO these days. Wow they offer links from PR5 and PR6 sites and all that and you actually end up purchasing. Without being offensive to people who believe in such link buildings and people who provide them, I will elaborate few skills here that will ( I guess!) help you to improve your visibility in search result. First thing you must remember is PageRank is a factor that affects search engine ranking and PageRank itself do not means the accurate rank of a site. Generally link building that is commonly followed is Join a forum, participate and build link through signature or in any post just put your site's URL and build links. Another common way followed is article submission to directories and the third way is by commenting on Blogs. Well each and everybody in DP, I am sure is aware of these simple tricks. Then what new am I supposed to tell you. There are some simple changes in search engines and their algorithm.<br><br>Now the algorithms are more content aware than link aware. Suppose we agree to mutually link with another site of the same niche. for a particular search result some page of ours may appear before the other site, even if other site's PR is higher. Now if you put a link of that site in your site, actually the second sites weight is further increased than yours. Hence even if you are linking with a PR5 site, he gains and you loose. On the contrary say you purchase a link from a pr5/pr6 site of the same Niche( I am sure you understand how crucial it is to evaluate the niche of the linking site), suppose that site put the link in a page of it's which has got several other outbound link ( something like Advertisement sub forum in any forum) then your value is diluted and the purchased link do not mean anything. The best way therefore is participate in the site where you want to create a link of yours. The content must be semantically close to the content of your site. That content must be clubbed with some other article or contents that are relevant. Always remember a single article or keyword or anchor tag these days do not play any role in your ranking. It should be in a cloud of articles with similar content. Than there is "Do Follow" and "No Flollow". I have seen many people being utterly disappointed by DP being Nofollow Now. Important well "No follow" means in terms of PR, a link in this site will not attribute to your PR. while displaying the result, if you have a meaningful link in a site with content similar to your content and ranked higher, you will invariably be featured in the top result. And there will be redirected traffic from the linking site. So objective of SEO is not high PR, it is about high ranking in search results, quality traffic that results in a sale or joining or spending time in your site( whatever is your objective) This will certainly help in your income improvement because your focus is on 'Goal'.

You're right, no follow with a good traffic is better to increase traffic for blog. But a position of link is more important too, if visitor can't see your link, how can they click and visit your blog?
Ok, Now what exactly happens with the Semantic web is suppose you put your link in an article of a authority site which is in your niche. Invariably the best site will be shown at the top. Once visitor visits that site, there will be a link to your site. If you can use good anchor tag, your result will automatically be in first few result as a correlated result being displayed by a search engine. Ofcourse Link visibility matters but, getting the right traffic also matters. See once people start visiting your site and start bookmarking, they might quote some of your article as reference. And A No Follow Link from authority site may not increase page rank, but certainly increase page rank for many keywords. You can trust that out as a trail!!
SEO is not the same as before after Panda update. Focus more on quality content and acquiring quality links.
SEO is never the same from 16th November 2003, since Florida Update Friend. The difference is Few people knows it and the others do not know. Those who knows do not leak it out. But if you can check the history, Florida Update was the revolutionary. Panda update adds "negative reputation", but is essentially an extension of Florida update.
yeah no follow links don't help to get PR but these links help you to get tons of visitors right? so don't worry about the type. just make relevant links.that will be helpful for your site. thanks

i am sorry...but what is "Florida Update"? i heard panda update before but never heard "Florida Update" in 2003????
Google updates the search engine every month and give every updates a name, just like seasonal tornadoes. Florida update was more on semantic web. Earlier pages used to be stuffed with keywords, it was intended to extract the semantic meaning or "sentence wise meaning" from the pages and lot of rankings actually changed in that!
They will improve your site's appearance if presented in a relevant content, but it will not improve your PR, because DP is now a nofollow site which means, search engine will not consider the links from DP to your site. Although DP is an authority site, So links from DP will be correlated to your site, provided your contents are real. (Simple answer DP's link will help you getting relevance but not PR)
Yes it's been a long time I even checked what my PR was on my sites. The factor to look at is your traffic, that's it. Not even if you rank well or not on google for this or that keyword. Well at least for me the main factor is traffic. Some other person might have number of daily sales to evaluate and not traffic per se.
I fully agree with you JamesColin! Many says PR improves traffic. But I do not entirely agree with that. If the contents are really not worth, the traffic will vanish. PR or no PR, there are two point agenda 1) Take time to write super content 2) Take time to appropriately advertise them, link follows automatically. Beside if your site has enough mutually related pages and there are even some relevant links from authority sites ( whatever type) you are bound to be featured right there! At the end of the day, its quality traffic!
