    Hi Guyz,
I need a help we have webtrends installed and a guy working on it., But iam not satisfied with the reports.,

I need to know which keyword leads to conversion (free and then paid which can happen in any month) ,
Anyone here uses webtrends? , i dont want to use analytics and conversion tracking., (privacy problems)

    Iam trying to achieve this:
    1) Keywords that gave the most clicks
    2) Signups arising from each keyword
    3) Keyword which leads to payments (it may not be instant and can happen over the month)

Please help, I can even pay 5$ for every support that i receive through email :)

    Thanks.,

I used Webtrends for a long time on both corporate sites and personal sites and I can think thier reports are really lacking.

long story short I moved everything to google analytics.. great price (free!)

THere are 2 disadvantages in using analytics
    1) Direct privacy problem from google
    2) Google staff (representative) who manages our account, will have direct access to our account, Using analytics, he will have an indebth idea of our company's business, including the conversion rations, click to lead ratio, how many becomes paid member from our site.,

Later when he starts seeking job, he will be greeted by top companies, if he joins our competitor he will use this knowledge to promote competitor business

So, the "free" initially helps , not in the long run

I haven't used Webtrends for years, but I believe there's a way to use regular expressions to grab certain areas of data from the server logs. If you're passing the suitable parameters over with the PPC clicks (e.g ?kw={keyword} or somesuch tracking) then you'll be able to see these in the logs; similarly with natural search (e.g. ?q=search+term for Google). It's a matter of putting the two together.

However, considering you want to track click to conversion over a long period of time, and you want to have this tied up together, you're going to have to cookie the visitor and extract the cookie on conversion. It's possible to turn tracking of the cookies in your web server logs so that you can extract them later, but it may be beyond Webtrends capabilities. It may be easier for your developer to knock up a Perl script that runs a suitable regexp over the logs ...

... however, this isn't necessarily the right place to discuss web dev, eh? :)

    H
(hope this helps, if not PM me because it's the sort of thing I've developed in the past)

    LOL!
You can stop google, but how can you stop your own employees, what about them?... they are not going to work with you for life. The biggest danger is getting your employee to move to a competitor, a google guy gets a cool amount of money, so he will never join a small company.

Also, many companies outsource their advertising work to agencies, what about those cases. Does'nt that put your private information to risk? In India, agencies like mediaturf are managing adwords accounts of so many companies, the real danger lies there. Your account information can be easily sold to others.

Therefore such concerns are more from within the company and agencies rather than google.

Any proof? that he never joins another company?

in any concerns, only a few knows the management info (incomes and expens e info), They cant join competitors directly as per contract

I agree on this point, we never outsource anything related to our main business

And now, back to the topic, can you provide any help on how to configure webtrends for my question, I dont want to argue on my opinions :)
