Soon I'll have a server and a domain name just for testing purposes, what do you think I should test? At this point my first test will be to create a domain (which will have subdomains for testing purposes) and create an rss powered blog just to see what happens. I'll point a couple pr6-pr8s at it too. Then again thats just my first idea, I'm up for opinions tell me what you would like to see in an SEO experiment. My end goals are to get traffic first, google ranking second, and PR third. Tell me what you think would be a good experiment, i'll be reporting everything here.
Web 2.0 seems to be a hot topic. Maybe testing the ability to raise exposure with Web 2.0 applications/sites as a significant part of the the overall...
Web 2.0 is fairly overused do you have a specific ideas? I guess you mean I should create a community maybe.
How are you going to try and make money? That would be the first thing I would be thinking of before throwing away money.
Still working a 40 hour a week job, just started this SEO business 4 month ago I'm sticking to it right now for a few reasons. 1. Havent had any intersting job offers 2. I'm earning enough to stay comfortable (not much, its china) 3. I'm learning a lot (thats the most important part)
Sounds like you are adding more to this list by setting up all sorts of test scenarios. Don't diversify too much. Focus on a couple ideas and you may not have to wait for jobs anymore because you can be your own boss.
I am marketing other people's websites not my own, I'm attempting to learn SEO not, and drive traffic to sites. Since I'm spending around 1000$ per month right now on things a couple hundred bucks to setup hosting, and a domain isn't too much espeically in light of what i might learn.
Subscribe to problogger.net and read his archives. Try the things he and other people tried and continue if it works else experiment with something else if it does not.
Nice to know somebody is reading my blog Tops, I agree I've been diversifying too much. I really need to focus one or two areas and go from there. The stuff in my blog is actually outside my regular 40 hour a week work life. I've also got 4 websites there to worry about, 2 of which i've created myself.
Yes, I have a full time job doing SEO, the client ( my boss) hired me on 4 months ago to market his sites. I think a small amount spent on learning could help me learn faster.
agreed i've gotten lucky. Anyhow thats why I'm asking if people have any ideas for testing. I want to learn as much as I can before something changes (hopefully i quit and move on to a job paying 10x as much ).
You could always take my advice here http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2006/10/most-seos-are-virgins.html
to be in seo field we have to do lot of tests and find ways to rank better in serps.Try to use orginal content rather then rss that will be better i think because most of clients who pay use orginal content sites.
