Hi all, Is it always a good idea to add a small product description beneath the products on your homepage with the ''read more'' link ? Because we are doubting to do this with every product cause it will give more text to the homepage and also there will be more keywords on the homepage. I cant think about anything that will say that this is not a good thing to do... So im i right or not? See example in the image (at the moment we dont have short product description).
Thanks for your tips but certainly not my cup of tea. will remember if i got chance to run a e commerce site in future .
What kind of response was that? You didn't answer his question at all. Google is a semantic search engine so it can tell if the keywords are relevant. According to the SEO factors for 2011, the influence factor for keyword density on the page is not that high, so you don't have to worry about it THAT much. If you do want to optimize it however, prevent listing products on the front page that differ completely in keyword relevance and rank your individual categories (pages) for the keyword you want to rank for in that category.
Thanks for the answers! I understand this. The product names are already using the right keyword names. If i understand well its not a big deal to not give a small text beneath the products. But maybe the keyword density is now so high that its not normal any more. Cause every product title consist the keyword ''Omafiets'' and with some text beneath every product it will compensate all these keywords. I dont know what i should do now but i think i will add the short descriptions..
A homepage should be a generic snapshot of a website, to that end I believe setting a site up like this is wrong. Saying that it's just my own opinion.
