I've got a huge notebook filled with marketing, public relations, consulting, freelancing, and small business article ideas that will be added to www.BizAmmo.com eventually. They don't take me very long to write, and I'd like to start pushing them more often. But I'm not sure where to start. So... Of all of the marketing, promotion, and business topics out there, what would you personally have the most interest in reading? Help me decide on an order a bit. I don't care about publishing based on popular keywords... that's not what my sites are about. They're about the readers and what might actually help them. So what would help you? And if you have very specific questions, and wouldn't mind me using them for an FAQ-style article, feel free to PM them to me. Thanks. Jenn
I would organize them by topic. A good way to find out the questions people need answers to is by monitoring these forums. When someone asks a good question, write an article about it on your site.
They're already set up to be categorized. The problem is just in deciding which category to work on first. There are so many repeat questions here and other places regarding marketing that it really doesn't help to narrow much down, especially since they're often site- or niche-specific.
I would be interested in reading more offline marketing techniques. I have read quite a bit of online techniques and feel I could generate the most knowledge (utility) from offline advertising. For example, billboards, paid product placements, magazines, newspapers, tshirts, etc. Thanks.
It sounds like you're mostly interested in advertising and not marketing. While similar (and advertising is a specialized form of marketing), advertising won't be covered much on this site. There are plans to launch an advertising site at bizammo soon along with a few others, just not until I build up the original 4 a bit more. But I'll keep the offline advertising issues in mind.
The categories are general, and wouldn't help me too much in picking specific topics... but just as a few examples of options: 1. Online press rooms 2. Media Kits 3. Pitching Story Ideas 4. Building Email Lists 5. Developing a Brand Identity 6. Image Development & Management 7. Press / News Conferences 8. How to Handle Media Interviews 9. Crisis Communications & Response 10. Marketing Career Profiles 11. Interviews with Marketing Professionals 12. Market Research Techniques 13. Writing a Marketing Plan 14. Guerrilla Marketing Tactics 15. Developing Story Angles 16. Public Speaking 17. Developing a PR Plan There are a ton of options... that's just what jumps to mind.
lol Well, I guess that would be a good one to expand on. I have a very basic intro article on guerrilla marketing as it applies to consultants to give you some background. As for it on the list, I meant doing a series of articles, each focusing on a specific guerrilla marketing tactic.
just read your intro article. i already do a number of the tactics mentioned including free web site consultation to potential clients, so i was doing this without even knowing it lol i'd be interested in knowing how you started to get your webzine exposed to different bands? i've actually had the same idea as that webzine but for local bands, just never thought i'd be able to market it properly
Mine started out locally in the Philadelphia area. Bands all knew each other and spread the word, and I started getting contacted by bands further north, and in NY, NJ, and DE. We covered a few international bands and other "non-locals" early on, but eventually had so many kits coming in from everywhere that we just opened it up internationally. If you start locally, and you're in a good market, word of mouth will undoubtedly be your strongest asset once you get going. Other than that, I've had luck with Myspace, and cross-promotions with other music sites, as well as slowly developing my own network of indie music sites... the cross-traffic helps a lot.
