    Hello

i am after a domain name where only .info is available. I am not sure if it is better to go with that or go with something like this my-domain-name.com.

    looking forward for your suggestions.

    Thanks

I have akismet on a .info with no problems. What have you experienced?

And the same site has done very well in the serps.

However I have no preference here although I'm probably leaning towards the .com

Why not register both? Should be able to use coupons / deals to get it under $10. If your worried about the extra $5, maybe you shouldnt be starting the site.

1 hyphen is enough for a domain name. Most online users hate to type 2 hyphen on the address bar.

You can use hyphen but not too much hyphen. if domain available on .info so no problem you can use it.

Agree. One hyphen is not bad at all.And you don't loose any traffic seo point of view too.But for marketing hyphen is little disadvantage.

.info means information, so if your site is about some kind of informations, its just fine.
But people always looks bad on info domain because it's cheap :D
If you can buy, better go for .com domain.

i hear .info is harder to rank seo-wise.
but i wud go with the .com, unless you can get a major keyword
in ur domain for the info.

    hope that made sense.

com is easier to remember and may look more trustable in visitor eyes.
If you dont care about visitor, maybe info better. depends on domain name
