I am an iranian and i'm proud of being in a country which have : The oldest civilization in the world (about 10000 years~~in 3000 years ago , iran owned and ruled more than 70% of lands on earth) , Cyrus the Great (represents a form of human rights charter in 2600 years ago) , Hakim AbolGhasem Ferdowsi (the greatest poet in world) , Avicenna (alcohol discoverer) , Hakim Omar Khayam (Astronomer , mathematician , physician , poet , Calendar developer at about 1000 years ago) , Best architects and Best buildings and many many things that i can't explain those in a few short sentences ... Don't you believe what i said ? then please go and search in wikipedia or anywhere you want! And i have an advice for people who created ( and will ) movies like "300" or "Alexander" : If you can't resist iran with current politics , then why you want to show iran history so bad and iranian people so ugly ?! Actually, Mesopotamia was the cradle of civilization and is located in Iraq between the Tigres and Euphrates Rivers. That is commonly known as where civilization started. I found that on Wikipedia as well. And your stating that Ferdowsi was the greatest poet is highly subjective. Also highly subjective that the best buildings and architects come from Iran is also highly subjective. You cannot prove that either the poet or the architects and buildings are the best in the world. Only that you think so. Iran has had a great history though as you've shown in some of the above examples, but now days, many in Iran condone violence and anti-western sentiment many times. Hanging people that don't mesh with your view isn't exactly free, nor giving human rights. And movies like "300" and "Alexander" are for entertainment and are based on a Western view of the times. They are no worse than the anti-western sentiments that some in Iran have stated. However, these movies don't speak of modern Iranians and everyone also knows that these are movies that aren't based exactly on exact history. Especially "300" which is overdramatized in style.
