You cannot add friends beyond 5000 in group. However in a page, you can have millions of fans.

    My 2cents.

In groups only limited people can join it. While in fanpage, they can easily like it and you can have many more fans to share your content with.

Omar is right on it, use the page as your business face, so to speak. Keep groups for specific networking, personal use and others, but the FB page can be seen, read, browsed, and used by any visitor and you want it good for SEO as well.

Facebook Pages enable public figures, organizations, businesses, and other entities to make an authentic and public presence on FB. Different from your profile, Facebook Pages are visible to everyone on the web by default. You, and every other person on FB, can link with these such Pages by becoming a fan and then receive their updates in the News Feed and communicate with them.

While FB Pages were created to be the official profiles for entities, like celebrities, brands or businesses, FB Groups are the place for small group interactions and for users to share their interests and express their opinion. Facebook groups allow people to come together around a common cause, issue or activity to organize, express objectives, discuss issues, post photos and share related content.

Well, nice explanation here. Adding to that, FB group allows you to have a group chat of all your fellow members which is a good social media tool aside from the common posting and commenting. On the other hand, FB pages offer many applications not found in groups.
