(First of all, sorry if this thread is placed in a wrong section. I didn't find any "Email Marketing" section here.) Hi all, I have a quick questions please about email marketing. I am looking forward to enter in email marketing business where I can offer email marketing campaign of 100k+ emails. I already have email database, but the problem is, I don't know how and where to start the process. I tried Gmail but it has a limit of sending daily emails. Same with Hotmail & Yahoo!. So please guys, any idea what should I go for to send 100k+ emails a day? Should I go for any email subscription service (like icontact)? Thanks,
Hi, How did you get your database? Are your "contacts" expecting to receive emails from you? If so you could try anyone of the well known services, but it will cost you.... how much varies on the amount of email addresses you import and with which service you choose. I do not know of ant free method you can use without running into limitations or any sort of risks. Good luck
Thanks for the response mate. I purchased a database from a local business listing site. It contains business info of local cities I want to target. So in case of paid service, which email marketing software or service you would recommend; so that I can get the most from my investment. Afterall, I am a new starter. Thanks,
i would just buy your own server and use an emailing script on it. you can get dedicated servers for around $50 a month you wont find a free email service like yahoo or gmail that will do over 100 or so. just because of spam limits and server constraints
You'll need to use your own aytoresponder software on your server for this, because most reputable autoresponder companies such as Aweber and GetResponse will not allow you to upload a list of contacts that size. Also, it's important to understand that if those people did not double opt-in to your list, then you run the risk of getting a lot of spam complaints. If this happens your server may shut down your account. The best way to build a safe email list is to use an autoreeponder like Aweber and start from scratch. Bought lists are a terrible idea, and you will see right away that almost 50% of the contacts on a bought list no longer have those email accounts (dormant accounts), are simply made up emails, or are over 10 years old. If the other 50% did not give you permission to email them, they will most likely just get upset and click the spam button. If you want my opinion, don't do it. Instead, set up an autorepsonder account with a reputabel company and send traffic to a lead capture (squeeze) page using article marketing, list swaps, PPC, SEO, JV giveaways, mobile ads, facebook ads, forum sigs, etc. I started buiding a list about two years ago using these methods and I now add on average 100 new leads every day. Also, you do not need a hige list to make money. My list is around 22,000 right now (20-25% will unsubscribe usually), and I make great money from them every month. Sure, it took a while and a lot more work, but if it's worth doing then that is always the case.
what is the most effective way to use email marketing. It takes time to build your own list. what kind of response should one expect from the list they purchase
I have to chime in and agree.. I have actually bought a couple of lists from sites that were recommended by others, and I might as well have flushed that money... VERY few viable emails on the lists. Building a list, while more time consuming, is better for targeting your list members and actually getting working emails instead of junk.
Yes, it takes time. But that is with any business. People rthat have double opted in to your list have given their permission for you to contact them because they are interested in the niche or products that you are promoting. If you buy a list, the leads are completely untargeted. For instance, the people on that list might be interested in cell phones or DVD's, and here you are trying to sell them internet marketing products. It just won't work. Bought lists are a total waste of money, plain and simple. I have been building a double opt-in list now for almost two years, and I have almost 22,000 leads so far. Now, another myth is that you need a huge list to make money. That's not true. I was making pretty good money from my list when I had only 5,000 leads. It's all about the relationship you build with your subscribers and the products that you promote to them. Give them great contant and promote quality products to them, and you can expect each lead to be worth about $1 income per month. So, a list of 3000 subscribers should bring about $3000 revenue per month. Now, you will have about 20-30% of your opt-ins unsubscribe. That's because they lose interest, or may have just been after the freebie you were offering in exchange for their email. That's all part of list building. Overall, it's the best way to make great money in internet marketing. I'd venture to say that if you want to make enough of an income to due marketing as your main source of income, yopu will need to build a list.
don't use icontact. They will shut down your account. Use someone that does a "blaster" service and make sure you follow the laws and if you try to send using your own ip, check with your isp. I own a list company and know the business well. You are better off just selling the lists and not doing the sending but it's your life.
There is a lot of good advice here...I would follow it before anything "bad" happens. Thats why I asked where you acquired your database and if the recipients are expecting your mails....if not you will have BIG problems. I suggest you build your own list as described above. At least you will know that it is safe to mail them. Try mailchimp, you can have up to 2,000 subscribers and send upto 12000 emails per month FREE.....should get you off to a good start. Good luck Dave
Thanks for all the precious and helpful replies mates. Obviously, now I will be going with paid email marketing services. Any idea which one would work great for my requirement? @storesf1, I surely think you are right. I should start in getting my own list to get maximum conversion and to avoid the risk of becoming "bad". Regards,
In most cases, I doubt any of those "contacts" you have gave you permission to send them email. Spam is considered serious problem these days and you can often get in trouble for it, especially email spam which can be easily caught. I never spent much time with those shady tactics of mass email spamming, but I know from experience that even the guys who consider themselves as pros in such form of email "marketing" don't get more than 10-15% of inboxing which plain suck. I build my own list of email and I have 90%+ inboxing rate, since it's permission based marketing. It's slower and harder to do, but it pays of after some time.
I am now using aweber to build my email list - I haven't really used it long enough to say yeah or nay, but a lot of people have recommended it to me, and they have a $1 first month trial.
Yea,I've been using Aweber for over 10 months straight now, never had any problems with deliverability and other stuff. They do charge some pretty pretty cash, but that's why their service is top notch as they work hard on keeping your emails out of the spamboxes all the time
It is not illegal to send to an email list by United States Laws! The Only law that has any bearing on sending to email lists is the Can-Spam Act! Read and follow these laws. If you are sending also keep in mind that if you send to many emails, you need to check with your internet service provider to see if they consider you overloading the server and may turn your account off. Use someone else for sending. Make sure you have a clean ip address if you want to do sending because if you or the person who is sending for you is blacklisted, a lot of your emails will go to peoples spam folders. Another myth is that you need to have opt-in emails for it to be legal. "NOT TRUE" Follow the Can-Spam Act and you are obeying all the laws of the USA. I own a marketing company and sell lists. So if you have any questions, or want a quote, feel free to ask me.
Yea, but I bet 9/10 that he won't even read the Can-Spam Act, not to mention follow it. On the other hand, micro-scale email spam probably won't get you into any serious trouble other than some C&D letters or some letter warnings, however, I still prefer staying on the safe side.
I am just trying to give my knowledge and I have been doing this for years and just want to help everyone not make the same mistakes I have heard so many other people make. Don't buy from someone you know is not a company and don't do any marketing without doing research first. 99% of people don't know what I just told all of you and no lists companies that do know want to tell you to go do research and go learn about the can-spam act and check with your ISP because they just want your money right now. They don't care what happens to you after. When I deal with customers I would rather help them and have them trust me and keep them as customers forever then get 1 quick sale and not care. Just my experience in this business.
I agree with cjmo75 on this one 100% he is right if those are people who are expecting to get emails from then go sign up for aweber or getresponse then make a squeeze page then tell those leads you have to go sign up for your offer so you build your list because I know Aweber and Getresponse will NOT allow you to import a list of that size
To send to a larger list you can use email blaster companies and/or companies that send to 3rd party lists.
You could use the likes of Aweber or Getresponse, but all those 100K subscribers will have to re-subscribe to your newsletter again before you can email them, to prevent accusations of spamming, unfortunately many of them will not re-subscribe
