A certain buyer of a website of mine for $4 wants to pay me via "pay pall" after I have transfered the domain from Godaddy to namecheap. They are brand new to the forum, don't speak english as their native language (which isn't usually a problem- I sold a site to a Pakistani-) and they want me to transfer the domain first. They also keep going on about a traffic screenshot, from awstats. I don't have awstats installed and have given them another webiliser one. They don't seem to understand. Have you had any dealings like this? What do you suggest I do?
Never ever transfer either a domain or site back up files etc to your customer without getting the money up front. If you are selling sites you can either use escrow service or just get the money first and then transfer the domain and site, otherwise you'll be scammed.
That's exactly what I thought, thanks for confirming. The only reason why I was asking was all my other sales have gone smoothly, no problems. This was the first one that looked a bit like a scam or a possible scam.
The site is a directory at $1 reserve. Its still available here at $1: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2283504
Lol, typical attitude of people who want to screw others. Regardless of their English proficiency, people who intend to pay will pay, even if you ask them to pay first before "delivering the goods". If they don't want to do that and their lack of adequate English-speaking skills becomes an excuse, stay away.
Don't sell it to him. Wait for another buyer. Because if he pays AFTER, there's big possibility he won't pay at all later.
