Can Google sitemaps be made for subdomains?

    I added mydomain.com and search.mydomain.com to the google webmaster tool, and came here to try to make a subdomain sitemap but it would not allow it... IF I make the subdomain sitemap by hand will google accept it? I noticed that you cannot add a subdomain url into the mydomain sitemap... Is the correct way to get the subdomain crawled to make a subdomain sitemap... I was able to get the subdomain verified and added to google tools...

    You have to make a sitemap for each individual subdomain/domain
