I'm willing to spend £1000 to promote my web directory.
Is it enough? What is the best way to spend it on?

I think he meant general ways not specific sites to submit to, particularly, your own sites ;d

 

- Do some directory submissions
- Buy some sitewide links
- Buy some signature links

 

yer i think its enough,i would spend it on gettign text links and banners, forum signatures and just genrally paying peaple to rave about your site on there blogs ect... Deliciousing it and diggin it ect...

Well you should buy as much links as posible so it gets a HIGH PR and you have chances to sell many links and make it profitable

well a buck isnt a bad start as ive spent about that or a little more each for Biz-king and Sleek. I would hope both will get atleast PR5s or 6 this next update but google decides its fate all i can do is keep buying high quality links and keep building my inners so they get there just rewards the next update.

its not a matter of spending £1000 all at once,

you have to continously promote the directory

but if you know what your doing 1000 could make a nice Dir

best way is to get high PR links, because people determine vale of Dir based on PR

make sure you have a custom design, or at least a template that isn;t on 1000 other sites

 

Is not $1,000 but £1,000 that is almost $2,000 and this doesn’t get you very far I spend this value almost on the first month on launching Ask.

 

I would spend that on sitewide PR6, PR7 home pages and to someone that will submit your site manually to 1000 directories

If the directory you are promoting is one of the listed in your signatures I recommend that first you spend ~$400 on a new skin and only then start heavy promotion.

 

That's a nice sum to start with, try reading around a bit and check the best options around.
Directory submissions, sig buying, etc. work well, but also sitewides at powerfull directories are recommended.

 

Alive is a good example.
Do some directory submissions and buy some sig links.

 

Buy some good PR links on related sites (you get traffic and better SE pr and pos), directory submision and good SEO should do it. 1000 is enough to get you started. Explore free listings as well, they will provide you some good traffic! GoodLuck !

So, about 80% of people here are recommended to buy some good PR links... Ok, but what is the good PR, I mean which PR is good enough? PR 7, 8, or maybe 9! Does anyone know how much it may cost for PR 9 text links and where I can buy it?
