In the past, I've written new Christmas content and included holiday related keywords and phrases into my sites to pick up a bit more holiday traffic. Anyone else doing the same? And having good results?
Pretty much everyone in every business, online and offline, does this. Why do you think TV stations play Christmas family movies on TV during the Holidays instead of Bloody Halloween horror films? They want more viewers. Starbucks sells "Candy Cane" drinks. Everyone does it. But yes, it is a great strategy for online marketing as well.
I manage a network of 40+ Christmas sites. The problem or, rather, the challenge in this niche is that the keywords or phrases of Christmas are very competitive. More than 460 million target the keyword "Christmas" alone. So not only do you have to have sharp content you have to have a lot of it and all the time. You just can't put out something on "Jingle Bells" and hope it gets noticed. Things like "Black Friday" or "Christmas Shopping" or "Santa Claus" or "Christmas Tree" are fiercely fought over by all kinds of entities out there.
yes ,this is a good idea , now you can make more backlinks by the "chrismas ... " anchor texts . it will bring more traffics to your site if you find the correct keywords .
I absolutely agree and that's why I try to target some longer tail keywords such as "make christmas cash" "make christmas money online", etc. Fighting for ranking with keywords like "Black Friday" or "Christmas Shopping" or "Santa Claus" or "Christmas Tree" would be next to impossible. And if I ranked high for one of those, it would be a true Miracle on 34th street.
Some of my Christmas related posts and projects are creeping upwards in the rankings, but lots of competition out there as others have mentioned.
Anyone else having luck with Christmas related keywords? I'm fining quicker results on Yahoo vs Google.
