The best strategy is to use a unique description for every submission. End of story.

Most people don't bother doing that. Generally, I try to use the same description no more than 4-10 times.

No need for changes after you have submitted the website and it has been accepted.

When I am paying for a directory link I create a unique description every single time. After a hundred or so it becomes easy.

Exactly if you are concerned with the quality and want to submit only at the quality websites make sure to have unique description in terms of keyword targeted for submission in those directories. As submitting with the same description may sometime make Google bot to look them as a spammy or auto generated.

Same description is duplicate content, when more and more duplicate content appear to web, it is consider spam. The ultimate idea to have unique description is to target wider keywords, instead of avoid spamming.

Try using different descriptions, it's better. When submitting to many directories once (100+), 4-5 different descriptions would suit well.

I do the same. Make it unique every time. Use a thesaurus if you're having trouble changing it up.

changing directory is the better way and I recommend to back the directory again after a certain period, I mean do that in circular manners of several directory descriptions.
