That's a bit harsh Spoiltdiva. I think it's a very thought provoking thread. I don't think it's possible to live for free. Even if you were going to grow your own crops and raise your own livestock, you'd need to own the land. And property taxes would still be there. And would you consider your own time and effort to be an intangible cost?
Perhaps you are right.I was being a bit harsh.In the spirit of fairness I've decided to remove my post.I'll let others make up their minds on the thread.But....this is a site where people work hard and trade to make revenue.I just thought the question was a bit insulting.
If you received an artist residency, where they pay you to be in another country and write operas or other classical music for a year. Debussy was one of the composers who won and was given a residency in (I think) Rome for a year. You would receive free housing and all your expenses paid, so no money would come from you.
This isn't free then , because I'd be actually giving them my services in return for paying my expenses . But If I decided not to do them any services , they wouldn't cover my expenses . Money is just a way that we exchange services & goods with , It also allows value storage and gives a pricing method . So the question is , Can't we live without money at all ?
How can you go a whole year without spending a dime? Its not possible, by the way if you don't want to spend why do you work because this is a forum where people look for information on how to make money.

I don't thinks so. Wherever you live you still have to pay for something. Fuel, food, clothes, house and so on. I guess if you live in a third-world country, hunting your own food, building houses out of material that can be found around you and so on you might be able to live "for free", but with the cost of a hard life.
Yes - it's possible. Just go into a forest or jungle and you could potentially live off the land. No electricity, no creature comforts and you'll have to enjoy eating what you find and pooping out in the iwld. Look up freegans - they dumpster dive for food, clothes and stuff they need.
Yes it is very much possible to live without spending 1 cent / year.. All you need to do is grow your food and maintain your house yourself.. Then barter for clothes.. Long before human kind invented money, people used to live like that.. Through barter system..
