Submit to directories makes a higher PR?

I have a website that's 2 months old and it's PR3 now.I submitted it to as many categories as I could. When I type "link:my website's url here" in google there are 2 links to my website.
I have another website that's 5 months old and it's PR0.I don't remember submitting it to any directories.Could this be the reason for the zero page rank?

I think you should submit your URL in fixed category which is related to your website.
And your another website is 5 months old but page rank is 0 because you are not doing proper SEO works. If you submit your website URL in various site ,it will give more back link to your site and then automatically page rank will be increase.

I'm not sure directories are a good way to go. I mean no one uses them anymore to find websites, they use search engiens like google, yahoo, bing. It wouldn't surprise me that if google found one day you had submitted to 1000 directories they'd think your website was spam.

Directory submission has a less value when it comes to ranking your site. But if you want to increase the number of backlinks to your website, you can do it.

For your 2 months old site, you can check it in yahoo site explorer, which more effective to check those link back. Most of time Google will hide number of actual link back.

For your 5 months old site, you get PR0 it could be due to you less putting effort to it. As you mention, you submit more links to 2 months site rather than 5 months site. Recently Google have slow update cycle on PR, if you are quite sure you doing the correct thing, sooner or later you will get such PR.

It might help in getting your site indexed but for page rank it depends if that page where your site is listed passes pr or if it has pr.

If google sees your directory submissions it will be shown in your webmaster tools account if you have any of this.
In this command "link:my url", google will show only a brief list with your links.
And finally, the website who has 5 months will remain at PR0 if you don't make some seo for him, and directory submission is only a piece from the big puzzle called SEO.

This might be true for the vast majority of general directories, but it's not true for niche directories. A lot of people use directories in their niche to find information. I get a handful of hits to my sites every month from niche directories. I'm sure the link juice from them is more important than the few hits I get, but don't discount any marketing idea.

Yeah, PR is dependent on links to your site. Just remember it's not about PR it's about getting good quality related links to your site regardless of the PR.

Submit to directories all you can. While you may not get really good backlinks with some real link juice value. The link itself is important but they do not play any real role in the increase of the PR.

What about getting listed to newly established directories, like blogsdb.com, whose offering free listing on its featured products. But I heard its only for 1 month, and it will be paid after the promo period.

In my opinion, you need to submit your blogs to different directories, social bookmarking sites, social networks etc for link-building. In addition, your site must have some unique contents to get high PR.

There are many directories but not all of them are quality directories. Submit to only quality web directories to get the best result.

No! This isn't reason for your 5 months old site to have Zero PR. You hadn't proper s.e.o work for that site. Content is the king of the web site. Website also have get PR on the basic of content. So, It may be reason of your site. Therefor you should check your site content properly that the content is related to the page URL or not. Is your page content Duplicate! Check it!

Hi guys!Time is not important for site to getting pr. Some site get pr within 2 or 3 months on other hand some takes time more. So we can't say that. It depends on site content, Proper s.e.o work ..................

ya! you said right. We can get more back-link through directory submission. But it also effects on page ranks. If you have good back-link then your site rank front though some s.o.e work. For examples you have 10 back-link and an another person have 8 back-link and both works same works then your site rank better then the person. So, We can't say that directory submission not effects to page rank.

Yes ! But it is important to submit at those directories which has high pr on root < PR 4.

You will be rewarded for this with rankings and Page rank transfer. BUT be sure that the link is do follow , otherwise the value of the link is almost nothing
