    Hey frenz.

I have just bought a PR5 Directory, I am trying to make the best out of it.

Please can anybody lemme know the important steps to be followed in maintaining a directory, And i am also not able to be successful in selling the featured links on it.

How shall i approach the clients to ask them to buy a link on it?

    Please help me.

    Thanks

Just out of curiosity. When you bought it, did you make sure the PR was legit? Just something to keep in mind. Don't be surprised if it tanks.

Anyway, the most important thing you should do when it comes to maintaining your directory is keep it updated. Do it as often as you can. Make sure that you keep it fresh, make sure the sites you do list are not spammy and contain good quality content and are listed in appropriate categories.

Make sure that the sites you currently have listed are alive and fresh and also devoid of spammy or MFA type content. The best way to be successful is to simply update and maintain your directory consistently and often. The fresher and cleaner you keep the content the better. Make sure you nuke any dead sites or landing pages to domain renewals or domain sale pages.

    Good luck.

Make it a worthwhile site that people would enjoy using. Don't just wait for links to come to you. Don't do what everyone else is doing. There are people who make a lot of money in this business, but most likely they are not regularly posting (though I do know a couple, but they probably wouldn't tell you how much they make).

Have you read the sticky at the top of this section called "You should not start a web directory"

I would audit every single listing it currently has. If the directory was set up to be sold, particularly if it's on a dropped domain, the former owner may have accepted every submission to fill it quickly. Look out for descriptions that are laundry lists of keywords, misfiled in the wrong category or links to a site not worth visiting.

The best method to keeping a directory maintained is to have fresh and quality content on it and have it updated daily or regularly. People would want to submit to your directory if they like and find it interesting to their visitors as well.
