I understand pageviews is when a page is viewed or loaded on a user's browser. Impression is also when the page loaded has an AD on it. My page has 3 Adsense ads on each page you click, however in example yesterday I got: 150K Pageviews and 10K Unique Visitors. Adsense shows only 50K page views or "impressions"(as it was back then). I think there is a time difference or something but these don't match up. Can someone explain to me how these correlate and if asked by an Ad network, how would I know how many impressions I have per month?
Adsense doesnt really match up with any other stats. BTW, if you want to know the difference between page views and impressions, here is an example. You have 3 ads on one page. If that page is loaded 10 times, it would give you 10 pageviews and 30 impressions.... simple.
It seems that simple but thats what I don't get, my Adsense "pageviews"(used to be impressions) is always, ALWAYS significantly less than my pageviews in Google Analytics.
I am really sorry for the wrong info. I was just feeling sleepy and just made a wrong comment. Actually Pageviews is nothing but how many times a page is viewed. and Impression is also same as pageviews for its in terms of marketing. Suppose an ad is placed on the page and when it is displayed it is said to be 1 impression. If the ad doesn't load along with the page then its not an impression. That's what i know as i used to use CPM ads on my blog. If i am wrong correct me.
pageview or impression is same thing, in network it may not match exactly with google analystic because analystic counts every visitor, its real or bot and all geo, where a ad network count only visitor which they find real and is from location they may have ads for
In case of adwords you can get number of impression from google adwords tools. but page view you can got from Analytics. When the page is viewed by user after look your ad impression on any networks like google search or display network. I have study lots of above comment. But i would like to say impression or page view is same thing. If ans is ok then reply me
here is actual answer. 1) 1 user visitor your page (blog post/article) 2) how many ad blocks are showing when the visitor your page (by default the page loads and display above folder, like 25% of page, other 75% page displays when user scroll to bottom or 50% shows if user navigate to center of the page) 3) Let say.. by default loads the page 25%, and you have only one AD block, now it's count 1 pave view & 1 ad impression 4) Let say by default loads the page 25% and you are showing 2 ad blocks, now it's count 1 page view & 2 ad impressions. 5) Let say by default loads the page 25% and you are showing 3 ad blocks, now it's count 1 page view & 3 ad impressions. say way.. based on the no. of ads shows in your page. some times you can count text ads, multiple let say one ad unit it shows 5 text ads, then 5 impression you will get...
