Do you keep up with your WordPress upgrades?

Is it really necessary to keep up with the WordPress upgrades? 2.0.5 was released hours ago.

Do you upgrade? Or do you just sit back and "fix things when they are broken"?

Heh, me too. The thing is.. its a "5 minute upgrade".. but if you have 10 blogs, its a whole different story. Is there a wordpress MU version that runs across multiple domains? :p

It would be good to have blogs on different domains but all running under one engine, so that you can just upgrade that engine when there is a new release.

WPMU does allow you to have multiple blogs, but only on different subdomains or subdirectories.

I always update when a release has been made. If Wordpress have bothered to make a realise, I make the effort to install it.

I will upgrade whenever there is any new versions.
As I know, they do add new features or fix something in every versions.
So why not when you can get things work better?

to be honest, I've only ever used fantastico to install

I'd be cautious. Better to upgrade manually, so you don't risk losing data

Ditto that, I don't trust Fantastico they've messed up on me in the past.
Plus an upgrade really takes even less then 2 minutes. Deactivate plugins, upload files, run upgrade script. So easy.

I can see how a large number of blogs would be a pain in the ass though.

Fantastico doesn't take account of plug-ins though, does it? I have about 10 plug-ins working fine on my blog and I know that one wrong move could see everything wiped out.

Manual for me, although I haven't had the guts since 2.0.2!

Yeah, the issue is when you have multiple blogs with multiple plugins - big headache. Its still nice if your plugins don't require modifications of the code.. i.e. just activate in the panel.. but a big big big headache if it does! You gotta re-read the readmes, and everything ... haha
