Popularity between .com and .in in India ?

    Which one is more popular .com or .in in India?
    Has there been any surveys to provide a figure to this?

    I tried searching in google but couldn't get any data. :(

    I am sure that .IN is more popular in India, but also can say that most of webmasters prefer .com domain.. If you are planning to run business preferable in India, .IN domain will be the best one.

    Hi Siberforum, I am sot so sure in that. I have hardly seen companies in india using .in as their primary domain name. btw, do you have some fact or figure to support that.

    Actually .co.in is more popular than .in's .Its changing anyway.In India it doesn't matter if it is .com, .co.in or .in .Everyone go to Google. So SEO is more important.

    If I am doing a global business while based in India, I will choose .com
    If I am targeting the local market, a .in may let people feel they you are more specialised.

    Actually co.in and .com are both popular in India but since co.in is related to India extension and co.in is popular only within India and so are .coms :)

    I would recommend .com as it may not be as popular as co.in right now but it probably will be very soon.

    .Com is the best for anywhere other then that go for .co.in but only .in is not so much popular
