Need help to make a social networking site

Hi friends. This is my first post and I need a help. I want to make a social networking website with the following basic features :
    1. Two levels of networking, free and premium.
    2. free members should be able to communicate with free members and premium members with premium members.
    3. however, there must be a concept where free members "follow" some of premium members of their choice just like twitter. This should give them some previlige like viewing their wall.

I want to know which script will let me implement all these ( and a few more ) features ?? Till now, i have used wordpress, and I know a little bit of html and CSS. Please help me out. I have installed dolphin but I don't think it will be suitable.

There are actually social networking site php scripts out there but it would be easier to use a CMS if you don't know what you are doing

I have had a view of the features of this module but from nowhere it seems to be a social networking module. it seems to be more of an e-commerce extension. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think it is paid. Although I am ready to pay, but I want to make sure it meets the requirements. Are you sure it will fulfill my criteria especially the- 2 levels of networking concept ? Thanks for the suggestion by the way.

Ubercart can be used to make membership: like Free membership, paid membership etc
Drupal with some other module can be used to make social networking.

JomSocial is awesome... using it now. Too bad that there is no active coupon for it. I might purchase developer license for unlimited websites. Should we do a group buy for developer license?

I've done a social networking website with Dolphin 7. Buddy Press is also a good platform. Just depends on what you need, and what you are saying so far is pretty standard with most platforms.
