Massive Google Search Engine traffic drop.

    Hi,

I've noticed that my traffic from Google started dropping since the 18th of August. I've lost almost 90% of my traffic, for keywords I ranked on first page in position 1-4 now ranks on page 150 for the same keywords. I've been in the 1-4 position for almost a year now for my keywords. It first started dropping on google.co.uk, google.ca, google.co.za, and other Google search engine for my keywords that was in 1-4 position that now ranks on 100-150 page. Recently I've started dropping from first page till the 100-150 page for some keywords on Google.com

What's going on, why I'm I losing all my positions for the keywords I was ranked for?

I haven't made any big changes to my site and my backlinks didn't go down. I've only added a few nofollow tags to my contact us pages and other related pages.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    lovetospooge out

Did you make any other changes or added more pages recently? There doesn't seem to be any reason why it dropped.

I have also seen a bit of a drop, (not as much as 90% but still), so my guess would be that there is a small update going on.
I would wait a little for the dust to settle.

Having said that, a drop of 90% usually means that something much bigger is happening.

Maybe Google is seeing you as 'spam'.
Is there a new website that is scrapping your contents maybe and somehow managed to fool the bots into thinking they had the original contents?

    Hi guys,

I've looked through my emails and saw that I've received a email for a website requesting a link exchange on the 8/17/2011. I've added there website link to my website and after a week they still didn't add my link to there website so I removed there link from my site.

I've checked the link in Google Chrome and got this:

    filemusic.jpg

    filesmusic<dot>com

Do you guys think this could be the cause of my massive ranking drop?

    Who are you replying to?
And what makes you think we don't know what Google Panda is?

    I doubt it very much.

But in future, please don't follow any of those links, it is nothing more than spam.

No unsolicited emails will help your rankings.

If you made any changes and you added many more pages then it will happen like you have lost your search engine traffic.

OMG! Think that could have been the problem!

Yesterday I have found a internal link on my homepage linking to a page with thousands of internal pages from a database I've added a while back but never used it. Then I removed the link on my homepage and now I've got most of my first page rankings back for some of my keywords! Hope I'll get all my rankings back soon, but so far so good.

Thanks all for your feedback and help.

You have been hit by Google Panda update. Just recently Google adjusted search results even more and looks like your site didn't qualify as quality site.

What link building strategies have you used? Are your blog updated regularly?
I am asking because some of my sites recently started to drop in ranking due to spammy link building tactics like, forum profiles and blog comments. Maybe it is in your case as well
