Actually my statement did not quote you because it wasn't intended as a rebuttal to your post. It was addressing the religious thing in general, and though you mentioned the topic... Breeze is the one that's on multiple occasions / multiple forums tried to cast the tea party in the "religious zealot" mold. Far as I'm aware you haven't, nor have I ever to my knowledge aimed ridicule at any post you've written. You having a rough day over there or something?
You have an obsession with misquoting others when you have nothing of any substance to support your own position.
Breeze, I haven't misquoted anyone. If you disagree, supply samples. Otherwise, you're still in fantasy land.
It is your habit, when you are unable to stand on your own feet you blame someone else for you own faults. No, I have made no mention of the Tea Party religious anomalies - you are inferring from an article that was not the subject of my comment and used only as an example of their present public appeal.
Ummm, hold on a sec breezy... You made a specific allegation, ie - that I misquoted people. Ball is in your court. Supply examples or it's just another of your fantasy pronouncements. Stick a dime in the phone or get outta the booth.
I do not use your name in quotes as you do mine (41) - they are all misquotes as I said to attempt to disguise your own inability. Try standing on your own feet rob, in the long run you will come out the better.
Trying to confine you to facts is like trying to teach my dog to read music, albeit I have a better chance of success with the dog.
It's not really a matter to laugh about. Sure people can look at it, shrug and say - "Whats the big deal?". But lemonade today, what's next? Free Speech?? Some people, even then, look at that, shrug and say - "Whats the big deal?".
LoL. Your dog probably doesn't spend as much time smoking "the garden" . Yah, we've all become way too reasonable. With lemonade, one can easily make the argument, "well, if we let these kids sell lemonade, are you not going to complain when your neighbor down the street from Vietnam starts selling chicken feet at the curb side?". Armed with such good, fair and balanced intentions, the cops do their duty with a nice, even hand. When I grew up, we knew the cop's names, and could identify them on sight and, sometimes fortunately sometimes unfortunately, the reverse was also true. Either way, it was a community, and as will happen in a community, the law was not always applied evenly but it was certainly applied sensibly. Business permit laws were made for the guy who tries to turn curb side sales into a day job, where as kids selling lemonade were given a pass as something that actually made the community better, not worse. Same laws existed, but common sense and sanity were applied. Going a step further, our police were city police, paid for by city tax dollars. There were more than a few stories of "Undesirables" being given a lift out of town. About 15 years ago, the city incorporated its police into the county for budget reasons I believe. Every county Sheriff spends his first year or two working at the prison or county jail, often dealing with hardened criminals. While this may provide terrific training for our law enforcement in how to deal with truly "bad guys", one gets the feeling they all come out of that experience with the "there are Cops, and then there is everyone else" attitude they are now famous for, rather than the protectors of communities they used to be. I'm sure that, with enough good intentions, we will have no problem removing almost any liberty, including free speech. Its why we don't profile at airports, despite the obvious common sense of it. Groping, fondling, and nude photos are OK, but no profiling.
So, now the garage sale needs a business permit as well? If not yet, I guess pretty soon it will follow the suit. Some times I think that the Transformers was a subtle satire instead of a mindless action flick. Is police there "To serve and protect"? or "To punish and enslave"? It sure feels like later these days. And some people cheer for that..
Never bothered to Google it, but from personal experience, yes garage sales are prohibited altogether(the business permit will never be issued) in some cities. Parts of Yorba Linda (Nixon's birthplace), have one day a year slated for garage sales, with all other days being prohibited. Again, this is an anecdotal, but the story I was told is that one or two neighbors were having garage sales every single weekend, where they would peddle some good or other they were marketing. The result was some city legislation banning garage sales for everyone 364 days a year.
I agree with all of the above. But there is one crucial message missing - the Tea Party is against the institutionalized corruption of government. This is what really frightens both parties.
If anyone has any time in the next few days, I'm curious, check out the Coffee Party and let me know your general thoughts.
Disenfranchised Republicans do not have a large enough following to account for the overwhelming increase in Obama's ever shrinking audience of sheep. I think you meant, "disenfranchised Democrats"...
Your article is a little dated, almost a year and a half old. It seems America has caught up to the Tea party, with 55% disapproving and only 38% approving of the president now. When you consider that fiscal issues are the primary focus of the Tea Party, the real comparison number to the general public would be how many approve of Obama's job handling the economy. That number is 26%. 26%!!!!! Twenty Six Percent!!! http://www.gallup.com/poll/149042/New-Low-Approve-Obama-Economy.aspx @Rebecca: I loved your Coffee Party link. I was trying to figure out a slogan for them. Here are a few I came up with. "Free yourself from corporate media slavery! Follow Stewart and Colbert!". Oh the Irony "Are you fed up and looking for someone to hate? Hate the tea party! Hate corporate america and billionaires! Whatever you do, don't focus on the people running the government in washington!" I loved the plug for liberal San Francisco Professor and Obama supporter Lawrence Lessig. I would make the journey to SF to watch him desiminate his the pearls of wisdom and a world view based on extensive studies of Eastern Europe(the former USSR), but it just doesn't soundlike my cup-o-T.E.A. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Lessig What is funny is, I give it 50/50 odds that this group is genuinely pissed off at the president and not just some devisive political move trying to divide support for the tea party by separating the white collar from those lunatic blue collar folks and their uneducated ways. As their site points out, even leftist Dylan Ratigan realizes he is being ripped off. Don't get me wrong, Jon Stewart is a smart and funny guy and he really means well. It was sad to see how deluded he was when he tried to deny his liberal leanings. Know thyself. Only a lunatic would follow his retarded sibling, Stephen colbert, that actually appeared before congress in character to petition for the rights of illegal aliens. One thing is true about both Colbert and Stewart. They have no solutions.
You're so funny, great slogans! Thanks for your thoughts. Literally, I just discovered them last night. One thing I did like is they make a point of having a civil conversation, and they do seem inclusive. But, really, I don't know why I bothered, I don't have much desire to join a political organization anyway. I guess I was attracted by the dialogue of wanting to end corporate loopholes. Oh well, work just called and asked if I will come in (which is nice, and I encourage them to do so, as I enjoy the extra money). Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful afternoon.
