Since you like bringing all conversations back to religion... have you noticed that music is integral in all the major religions? Makes me think that our forefathers knew how to keep people happy when delivering their message.
Sure, Muslims are called to prayer by music, christians have hymns, hare krishnas dance and the list goes on
Maybe not in Algeria but in the Muslim towns and cities (Indonesia, Malaysia, southern Thailand) I've visited the call to prayer has a definite sing song quality to it.
Because we were both discussing how music is used in the Muslim faith and we had different experiences. I acknowledged that I hadn't been to Algeria and therefore had no direct experience of how Algerian Muslims demonstrate their faith. I have, however, found music used by Muslims in other countries. And then to make me look foolish I find http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_music so some Muslims clearly embrace music. Just not the Algerians, I guess. Although maybe they do
That will be why I ask questions. Is that wiki page about music wrong? Do Algerian muslims really live without music as you claim?
No,you have to know in all over the world however they are muslims or others there is bad and good of them and there is Muslims listen to music and others don't listen but I want you to know about Islam religion prohibite the listening to the music, that's all and for Islam is the best religion in the whole world and universe you have to know this even if you are christian or atheist or ....
I'm astounded then that that Wiki page is so wrong... You need to sign up as an editor and put it right. Plus when you go to youtube and search for islam music there are lots of results. Do they have no shame? This really belongs in P&R so I've created a new thread there.
I don't know why you astounded !!! this is the truth and yes there is really canticles, which you call them music, you have to recognize between the canticles islamic and music popular, the islam religion contains a conticles but if it sung without materials of music such ( flute and base and keyboard and ..etc) Islam accept ( tambour )and especialy the tune ( no tune ) in canticles of islam you have to chant as if you are speak and ofcourse don't chant for nothing , just for Islam, I hope to be understand , and I ask Allah to guide you to the straight way,
Aaaah, but you said you weren't allowed music at all and now you back track and say its just popular music... and define popular - does that mean you can listen to '70s punk music because it is no longer popular? If the canticles are popular with the clerics does that make it popular and therefore not to be listened to?
