It's a russian site, the FBI has no jurisdiction. Not much you can do about these types of sites unfortunately.
The FBI dont have jurisdiction but with one phone call they caould have the russian police close the site down much quicker than some one emailing everyone.
In some countries child porn is LEGAL, so how does every single one of them get shutdown? Hope they have a registrar or something in a country that it is illegal in? Isn't that infringing on a countries freedom to have their own laws? I guess I just don't fully understand the process.
If a server is located in a country where it is legal for child porngraphy than theres nothink that can be done to close the server, however most if not all servers, hosts registars etc have policies to not have any child porn sites so closes them down which is no infrindgin on countries freedom because its company policy. The case in question the server is in Russia where child porngraphy is illegal.
Honestly now, name one country where this kind of thing isn't illegal. If such a place exists I don't know why all the pedophiles in the world wouldn't just move there so they could abuse children in peace. That's a pretty good idea actually... we could route all the suicide bombers there too and kill two birds with one stone.
Its very sad that this type of thing is on the internet. It makes me sick to my stomach everytime I hear about it .... Disgusting...
The FBI can't do much in Russia. They can't do anything to russian hosted websites. Russia has to do something about it. There was a bill passed but i dont think russia signed it not really sure. But that is really messed up. Hope they do something about it fast. - Prilep
Why do you think vacations to countries like Thailand are so popular? Sadly, not all countries take this as seriously as they should. Congrats to the OP for getting the site shut down though!
Child pornography isn't legal in Thailand, they just have problems keeping up with it. There are busts there all the time, but sadly it's often quite easy to bribe the local police into silence. A server there would still get shut down, though.
There was a guy one time who did be such an invesitgator (don't remember his name). After submitting several sites to the FBI, he got himself caught. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO SEARCH FOR SUCH SITES. And no the FBI does not have any jurisdictions over Russian governates, as a matter of fact, the FBI won't even do contact them (as they are limited to what they can do). Who says Russia owes us one? As far as I can find out, child porn on websites isn't against any Russian law, so there's no one you can contact. (Child porn is not "legal in some countries", there are just some countries that have no law on their books prohibiting it.)
