Hello everyone, I have a Facebook Fan page which I receive a good deal of traffic from. Out of the blue yesterday morning, whenever I post a link to my wall (or any other wall) the thumbnail does not show. Sometimes, the link description does not show as well. This seems to only effect my specific domain links. When I try to post links from another domain, the thumbnail and description appears instantly. I have NOT changed anything with my files. Even if I switch wordpress themes, the same problem is consistent. I googled this for hours and I see it happens at random to thousands of users, especially when FB makes some sort of update (i.e. the new Skype feature). Unfortunately, there are no fixes I can find nor any information on how long this bug takes to "fix itself". Has anyone else had this happen? How long did it take to fix if you had to wait on FB?
It has happened to me a couple of times in the past, but normally I just deleted it and re-enter the info' and all is ok again.
On occasion I've found it's just my own computer and clearing my cache clears up the issue, but other times that doesn't work. I've also noticed similar comments from others, particularly this week. Youtube videos seem to be a specific source for complaint.
Thanks! I've tried from multiple computers, still nothing. I even had a friend out of state try. I'm having no problem with youtube or vimeo links or even links to other sites. It's only happening with my domain. It's good to know you've seen this among other users though.
Is it possible your page has been blacklisted by Facebook, so you can't share this function with your page?
Yes, I initially thought that is what happened. I tagged a fan page of a product that I wrote about and then magically my links do not work anymore. Is there anyway to be removed from the blacklist?
You domain link must have JPEG image in order to be displayed at Facebook thumbnail. I encountered the issue as well where my image does not displayed because the image was not JPEG.
Not exactly a jpeg image, not a gif image. All other image formats will be displayed as a thumbnail. /when you dont have any image,only sites link will be added.
Perhaps you have to stop posting links on your page wall, and turn to post some useful, interesting updates to attract your fans comment on your post, then interact with them, drive more fans to your page, that can earn some credibility of your page. After the credibility is increased, the thumbnail function may turn back.
