Hello, I have fortunately dealt with so many clients here on DP so far. But one of my clients is receiving spam emails and he thinks its me. Because the name used in spam emails is my name 'Raghavendra'. He has sent me pm regarding this and there is an IP address from which spam emails are being sent to him. Also my other email id is also receiving too many spam emails and would like to report spam. I have no idea how can i do that. That other id is my personal id and i am annoyed with 10 spam emails a day. Can anybody suggest me on how to report spam? Regards Edit : this is the domain name which being used to send spam emails to my personal email id http://jobsnext.info/ and they are using several emails ids on this domain daily to send spam emails so its even useless if i apply a filter. What should i do?
If you received spam PM on DP forums, then use the 'Report Post' on the lower left side. If you received spam emails, then use 'Report Spam' button and your service provider like GMail, Hotmail, etc. will investigate them.
Reporting spam is indeed a good idea but it will take a while before it's sorted out. Just block the domain name and you'll be fine. If you're using Windows Live Mail, go to Options, Safety Options then Blocked Senders and add it.
hi... thank you both for the replies. I followed as you said but the sender is using multiple domains and multiple urls. His emails are promoting yola sites. How can I report spam, he creates new free sites always and has a ton i suppose. I am really annoyed as i receive too many emails everyday and its my personal 4 year old email which i cannot change
www.spamcop.net has an automated system that will send reports to the server the spam comes from if the IP can be tracked.
Yes it may a one time effort but just imagine how much benefit it would do to all the other members, maybe you can get likes to your post this way.
If you're using a POP3 email account, you might try POPFile (popfile dot org). It's a Bayesian filter and will stop emails of that type easily. (It takes a few weeks before it's trained, but I have one account that receives about 10 emails a day - and doesn't receive about 500-1,000 spam emails sent to it every day.)
Report spam to the isp in question, IE if the user is spamming from his aol.com, gmail.com account report it to include the original message, and header.
