Should I remove my nofollows?

    Hi there,

I think it has been proven enough that Google crawlers follow the no-follow links despite the fact Google has repeteadly said it wouldn't. What's the use of nofollow then? What could happen if I removed them all? Has anybody tried?

If your rankings are fine I suggest you don't. Google may interpret your site as a link farm if you have too many.

What kind of site you have? It is mostly applicable if you can't totally moderate your blog or forum from link droppers, or if you are buying/selling links, nofollow will protect you from being flag for manipulation.

Google might follow the link, (there is nothing really wrong with that), but your nofollows/noindex are telling their crawlers not pass any pr juice to that other page/site.
On a more practical term it also tells them that you don't trust the page you are linking to, you are not a link farm.

On my own site for example, I am very careful about what links are followed and what links are not.

How Google then handles it afterward is up to them, but at least I have kept my side of the bargain by telling their bots that it is an untrusted link that I am not endorsing at all.

I suggest you to not to remove no follow links. Google does not follow them but these links also have some importance for Google. Removing them can be harmful for your site..

Google will crawl any link no matter nofollow or dofollow. But what is affected is if Google will pass on any of the previous pages authority. Authority is "Google Juice"!

Yup, I agree with almost all of them. turn off no-follow option only will make your site as spam objective

its not advisable thing to do, google will consider your site as a link farm if you have lots of comment

OK, leaving Google behind. What would be the consequences for Bing and Ask?

i don't think it will be a good decision. cause Google index these links too. but yes they are not useful to give you link juice so you can't get help to get rank. but you will get some free visitors dude. so don't remove these links.
    thanks

I would keep dofollow links and nofollow links (external) at a certain ratio. like maybe 2:1. Make it look natural.

Nofollow mainly not pass the link juice. So, it depend on you to use it or not, to get pr for that page.

No-follow does pass some link juice but evidently not as much as do-follows, so there is a bone of contention to have them included by some analysts

You no need to remove your no follow links if your rank is good because with the no follow links you can get the traffic so it is good for your site.
