You've got a volatile mixture of 136 tribes that hate each other, you've got moderates and those who want sharia law.Once the fighting in Tripoli is over the'll all turn on each other. The mess that is Libya is just beginning.

Have to say thought it was appalling of Conservative MP Louise Mensch to be tweeting triumphantly saying how it was a "Genuine triumph for David Cameron" whilst the battle for Tripoli was raging :

Gaddafi's compound is taken over . He can no longer slaughter civilians . We did our job and saved a nation from merciless cleansing . Sorry but this is mission accomplished on our part . NATO changed the fate from a nation from oppression and murdered to being free . The future may not be super bright but at least the future exists . For a comparison look at Syria .

You are spot on Linda. And not to forget alleged Al-Qaeda support to rebels makes thing even worse..

And that's a real surprise, considering Libya under Gaddafi has always been a vocal supporter of terrorism across the world.

LOL. Your stupidity is amazing. Even today if there is a democratic election, Gaddafi will win with over 50% of votes. This is was change of regime operation but they were smart enough to not put ground troops and instead arm the local opposition to do their fighting. The future is already decided. A powerful Libyan family who resides in London will be the next dictators in Libya. Inside 3 months, the new president will move back from London to tripoli to act as president.

The race for oil contracts and nation re-building contracts has begun.

I wonder who will get the best contracts, will it be France? USA? UK?

The opposition was only in places next to sea where they could be supplied with weapon by sea. The operation was supposed to protect civilians, so how did it change to destroying Libyan army and giving air support to people who are on attack to the government source? There was riots in London, does this mean Chinese government has the right to bomb london police, supplu arms to rioters and change England government?

You will see very soon see the new president who will move from London to Libya.

GWorld buy a newspaper man Gaddafi used tanks and airpower to pwn civilians . That's srsly fked up . If the British gov would use Challengers and G-Linxes to pwn the rioters then you could bet that there would be a monstrous reaction although probably the British army would refuse to do such a thing .

Any government will react to people with weapon in their country. look at USA when national guard opened fire to protesters in the university protesting against Vietnam war. look at what USA did in Waco and they weren´t even using their guns. Look at Bahrain where there was genuine protests but nobody reacted to the killing.
Libya and Syria are change of regime operations and far from any real people uprising.

Correct my history if you must, GWorld, but I don't recall the use of tanks and airstrikes against civilian protesters. Perhaps you can link me the article. I also don't recall the fine folks in Waco being unarmed protesters, as attributed to by the four ATF agents shot dead during that debacle.

What I do recall, however, is massive backlash against the US government for both incidents. I do appreciate the frank presentation of your philosophy of peace which, apparently, includes a governments right to massacre its own people. I suppose you never have claimed to be a big fan of Democracy, but its still odd to see you openly embrace what communism and marxism always turn into, a bloody dictatorship.

LOL. Are you still sticking to unarmed civilian protesters? How come these unarmed civilians are defeating Libyan army and conquering cities and over throwing government? Any civilians involved in these actions were innocent pawns in the game that will be royally screwed in the end. The rebellion were feed with weapons from they one and then they were able to have the upper hand to Libyan army through use of allied air support. It was a simple regime change that was implemented by use of some of the Libyan groups.
They will never dare to have a democratic election in Libya since most likely Gaddafi will win it but obviously those civilians that support him will have no air support and their killing will be justified as casualty of war. The new dictator will be soon in the Libya from London and then really mission is accomplished.

If that were true Gaddafi would have saved everyone and himself a lot of trouble by putting himself on a ballot than in the crosshairs of foreign militaries.

After 40 years anything the Libyans come up with will be better than no chance for democracy at all. The need to export oil for income may keep a lid on the situation for the time being.

Are you seriously trying to compare the situation in China with the one in Libya ? Here's one for you if you don't like China stop doing business with it and raise awareness that they're ruled by some maniacs that dream of world dominance . Also that was 20 years ago , sorry but you're a little out of data mean and finally as much as I dislike China they're still not demented enough to use the tank's main battle gun to fire at the civilians nor did they bombed their own people because they demand democracy .

@Gworld so what are you suggesting that we do nothing ? I'm sure that there are a lot of nations that would love to see NATO doing nothing . It's a dictator's dream .
