Libyan rebels have told new agencies that Saif Al-Islam, Colonel Gaddafi's son, has been captured as the end of the regmine appears to draw ever closer. I hear that oil prices should fall with Gadhafi overthrow what's your take on this?
The end of cheap oil has passed. It may save 1 or 2c on current prices but "cheap", I don't think so.
Actually 2 of his sons have been captured. The rebels have now moved into the center of Tripoli into "Green Square" which they have now renamed "Marytr's Square".The battle for Tripoli is far from over and thus far 1,300 people have been killed in the battle today. The price of oil will be going up temporaily as investors don't like uncertainty. But will go down within a few weeks when the Libyan oil reserves begin to renter the market again.
The game will be over in 2-3 years...In a few days or in a few weeks they will catch Ghadaffi...Then they will form a "democratic parliament" then they will live under the illusion that things will change for the better...then, after 2-3 years they will realize that things are going worse than before and that they are basically now an "Iraq", a joke of a country that is worse off than it ever was and the only change that happened was change of power from Ghadaffi to the new western butt kissers...the new government will, to stay in power, have to kiss western ass and give them concessions and dance to the wests financial interests... CNN will report how lybia is now free, christiana amanpour will do her pseudo journalism special on how they now have "Democracy" and the people of lybia will miss the days of ghadaffi as the west buys up all their companies and resources for pennies...the money will go to the west now and a select few in the new government...the people of lybia will be poorer than ever...then the bubble will burst and the game will be truly over... just look how nicely iraq is doing its much better than before (heavy sarcasm) ...
@atvking Sadly I believe you are right.Human nature being what it is,the Libyan people are merely gaining a "kinder gentler" explotation.
Alex i'm sorry to say this but you don't have the right to speak on this one Yugoslavia was never under a true dictator . As someone that has lived under a brutal dictator i can tell you that FREEDOM is priceless . Trust me anyone that knows freedom would rather eat bread and water while free then eat stake and whine in a prison state .
What type of crack are you smoking? The Libyan rebels hold no allegiance to the US, France, or any western power, despite the billions of dollars of ordinance we just dropped on Gadahfi's head to help bring them to power. More than a few military analysts have them pegged as Islamic fundamentalists who want rule by Sharia, with Al Queda support mixed in. Democratic parliament my ass. Those people don't know the first thing about democracy. The two things I think you got right: 1) The new leadership will do business with western interests. 2) Things are about to get a lot worse for the Libyans.
Obamanation is right things will be worst for a few years while the nation gains political and social stability . But it shure beats the hell out of having tanks and plans of you nation shoot at you because you want to be free .
So you are saying that Western countries help Al Queda and Islamic fundamentalists spread unrest in countries? On topic, Gaddafi sons are still free according to bbc. Looks like he not going down without a fight.
Did I stutter? In this case, it is almost certain that we did. Lybia Draft Constitution implements Sharia It'll be the same as it always has been in the middle east. 1-2% of the people oppressing the other 98% with brutality, while they enjoy a life of luxury, paid for by selling the nation's resources to the west, who will do oil business with just about anyone it would appear.
Ain't that the case everywhere. 1-2% oppressing the rest. In middle east they are called dictators, in west they are called corporations.
When corporations start severing limbs for stealing, or stoning for adultery and blasphemy, we can have a reasonable conversation on this topic. Until then, I appreciate your acknowledgement of the tyrannical governments that infest the middle east.
Including Iraqi after the Republicans spent 6.1 Trillion dollars without a dime of return for the American people - who are you O to criticize anyone interested in "true" nation building? You made yourself culpable already what corporations are responsible for, including "severing limbs for stealing, or stoning for adultery and blasphemy" when it suits their interests in signing a contract. With outside support anything is possible, till boots are put on their soil.
@aplcalypseXL sorry bro I lived in lybia for 2 years I really know what I'm talking about when I say that lybians will miss him...don't get me wrong I do not think he is perfect or even a normal leader...but what will come after him is much much worse: western puppets that desperately need the west to stay in power so that the west does not do a "Ghadaffi" on them AND western financial interests ...Lybia will be exploited to shit by the new "government" and their masters... notice how i put quotation marks when i mentioned "democratic parliament" you missed my hint of heavy sarcasm... I just find it so sad that they are actually fighting for their own demise...out of the frying pan str8 in to the fire...it makes me sad not because the west and their puppets will win this one too, but because they are chasing an impossible dream of freedom that is only to be had with weapons of mass destruction...
Oh yes, we just exploit the hell out of Venezuela..... lmao. Yes, weapons of mass destruction = political freedom and quality of life for the general population, as well as an end to corruption! Just look at how well that is working out in Russia! And Pakistan! And Iran! Chavez controls all the oil in Venezuela and absolutely hates us, yet he still sells us oil. Chavez has also seized many private holdings in his country, including the oil industry. The middle class have fled, leaving only the poor who depend on his hand outs. Inflation has run rampant as he manipulates his currency, and he has all but declared himself leader for life. Obviously Chavez is not beholden to the "Companies", yet his people are less free than ever. I heard a great quote on TV last night. With 136 tribes, there is a good chance Lybia will wind up looking like Somalia with oil, though a new dictatorship to replace the old dictatorship is always possible.
Don't worry Ceausescu was missed to in the early years and some morons are still missing him and people yelled for years that the West is screwing us but almost everyone that didn't lived under him for to long will never miss him . Again freedom is priceless and nothing can compare with it . Also WTF a Yugoslavian in Libya how did you got there ? Oil industry ?
@obamanation you have to look at it this way: id rather get fucked by my own than by your own....the humiliation is less when you have a domestic dictator than a US butt kisser government...you can replace the domestic government easier than the US wall street one...not saying chavez/ghadaffi/whoever is better just saying we like the US even less... @apocalypseXL you have no freedom...you are a small insignificant country just like my former yugo...your politicians need the west to say in power end of story...now chaushesku was an asswipe i know the former romania well I was there several times during the "dark ages"...but what you have now is not much different...things will not get better they will get worse just like in every place that kisses western ass...democracy is not what you thought it would be you have to agree on this with me ...tell me how much is the average salary now? I bet is lower than what we had in the former yugo...just saying freedom does not come free and I was in lybia because my father is a banker and the non aligned nations were always kissing each others butt...even had dinner with ghadaffi (me and 100-s of other people in the same room) ...
