Well you see wrong as usual. The word is part of the paragraph from the page I linked to. I never wrote it and there was NO hate in my words. See the owner of truthout.org if you have a problem with its use there.

FTR: It's a word. nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger...... Australians don't use it with hate and LAUGH at Americans for accepting it's negative connotations, check your facts.

As an Aussie this is a totally obnoxious post. Australians rarely use the word, they sometimes use other derogatory terms for each other if they have a different skin colour but rarely that. Aussies that use the word aren't worth pissing on.

The word should not be used - or used as by Corwin to connotate irrational political stereotypes..

Having been AFRAID of the word POOF for years, I can attest to the power we give words. Now I laugh at how stupid I was.

Its actual origin is not as ominous as the word itself eventually has become.

I am of a particular ethnic background (I won't tell you which - the reason will become clear).

As a child, I was told never to use the negative hate speech slurs that had been used against my family for years - not even to joke, not to tease, not in jest. The reason is that we wanted these hate words to fall into disuse - which, I am happy to say, they have - those hate words are now obsolete.

I do not want to mention what my ethnicity is, because I am certain that Bushranger would enjoy indulging in the hateful use of those obsolete words. He has made it clear that other people's feelings do not matter to him.

To Bushranger, he has made it clear that other people's feelings are unimportant compared to HIS opinions - an attitude used to justify bigotry and prejudice.

Asia is openly prejudicial against people with black skin. Believe me, they mind, but objecting does nothing but make things worse for them.

For the sake of the Arena I kinda hope she becomes a candidate - Palin may be envious of the attention Bachmann is attracting and the competition between those two would be worth the entertainment alone.

Actually my opinion was Palin would stay out of the race in support of Bachmann and still believe that will be the case.

Don't give me that shit. You're happy to spread lies and misinformation, I think that's a much worse trait than saying any word that you happen to find offensive. Likely you're just fishin for a reason to hate on me, NPs, noted. A logical man will tell you you're only perpetuating the power of it by being afraid of it. Correct on not giving a stuff about your feelings on a word because it's a feeling you should never have and an imaginary ghoul you're perpetuating.

I'm an Aussie, the word nigger is rarely used within the company I keep and is very much frowned upon in general society. The Hey Hey skit was met with widespread disapproval and the show apologised the following week. The night's guest Harry Connick Jr made the comment that the skit would never be allowed in America.

I turn my back and walk away from anyone using the word.

Is your name Fred Nile by any chance? And how will you see yourself in the mirror now?

Note: You're correct we don't use the word in general, but like you just did, every now and again it comes up and we say it. It is never said in hate or used as a hate word here and never has been. Also you may notice, this is the only thread where I have ever brought it up, and that was to illustrate my feelings on the matter.

I'm not scared of a word and i'm not racist. See Hungry Beast (ABC) for a more updated version of the real Australia because you're telling the Fred Nile point of view. It's actually well done, delving into many of the words we're scared of.

First of all, it's intellectually dishonest of you to pretend that you know what I am thinking. Second, it must make you feel smug and happy to label anything that contradicts you as "lies and misinformation". Either attack with facts, something I wrote that you think is wrong, or shut hell up. Is that fair, cupcake?

If I could vote in the US election it would be Ron Paul. The others are mostly plastic dolls who do what is popular.

I'm not an American so obviously I can't cast a ballot. But if I could it would be for Romney. He has spent most of his life as a CEO and has made millions with his company. He understands the ins and outs of running a business. Also he was instrumental in getting the Salt Lake City Olympics and basically ran the thing and it ran quite well.As govenor of Utah his track record was quite good and when he speaks about how he would rekick start the U.S. economy he makes a great deal of sense.
Obama can make great rhetorical speeches and leave you with that warm fuzzy feeling, but that won't put people back to work.
