Google is fart the most popular search engine right now But there is no perfect search engine, you just decide which one gives the best results for you or which one feels better for you If we are talking about SEO perspective then I recommend concentrate your effort to Google as it will bring way more traffic due to popularity
well, it depends on your definition of "better". In terms of complexity of the search algorithm, resources and overall flexibility of course Google beats Yahoo badly... But, if you want to see the backlinks to a certain website, I never knew why, buy Yahoo's tool is far better than Google's. That's the only part where I can see Yahoo winning.
Google is by far the best Search Engine, however Yahoo does have a lot of database and a very close competitor, but no-one has beaten Google yet.
