From my experience and talking to others on different web hosting forums, all the different hosts out there basically offer the same things. You have your Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, basically all of your scripts via Fantastico or Simple Scripts and you have PHP and MySQL. There really isn't anything on the hosting side that differentiates these guys. But from my discussions and experience with multiple hosts, a company with great customer service would really set themselves apart from the pack. The question is, has anyone found a company that even has OK customer service?
mnchost.com...but now ..this hosting is on upgrading process...best customer service i found ever in comparision to godaddy, bluehost or fatcow.
Yes to get an idea what you are looking for tell us what you consider as points for good customer service. Everyone has a different opinion of what this includes.
Depends what you Response time you think is a decent and acceptable time, I give all hosts 24 hours to respond and my acceptable time would be 4 - 6 hours max for support. But if it's phone support that is a plus and livechat and 24/7 helpdesk access is also good. - Jacob DwellWeb.com
So support response time is critical. Understood, although I would expect almost instant replies, 24 hours is sure being nice How about the knowledge of the replys? Are you treated as an equal at say $10 a month compared to a $1,000 a month client? Are you requests taken care of without you having to pull teeth and email constantly? and the list goes on and on...
Well, Support time is obviously a very important quality of support BUT knowledge also coming before that since i have seen many hosts(breezehost) who have clueless and unreliable support/technicial representatives. I think most small/medium sized hosts would treat there customers with more respect and a better attitude then HostGator,GoDaddy etc.. as a $5,$8,$10 client is nothing so it will not hurt them to let a client of that value go. I do have momments where i get ALOT of tickets daily from some clients and do not respond in one ticket, i keep my calm and respond and tell them to respond in the same ticket.. but we update the ticket when we see it saying it's done or inprogress then usually get it done within a 30mins/Hour depending on the issue. - Jacob DwellWeb.com
I prefer 24/7 live chat support that can help with the basics that gets escalated to the ticket system if need be.
well I heard hostgator have a pretty much good support too, as their representatives are online around the clock. so i though its good to give them a try if they meet your budget.
A lot of companies offer good support. Go with someone who offers 24/7 support and test them out before signing up. Email them and see how long it takes them to reply.
If you're looking for full-server hosting, Rackaid is incredible. They beat to every issue on my server (which are rare). They know plesk and linux upside down, and they are fast as hell at responding. You can get the owner on the phone anytime and they have lots of clients so they aren't going anywhere soon.
I have found that HostGator has excellent customer service. You can try their service for your first month for 1 cent.
I've had some bad host co's. and some super ones. I have used host gator over 5 years, and I continue to use them for a number of reasons. 1. There customer service, in my case is excellent. Send a clear -well written support ticket in, and watch how long it takes for response . I get a response in 1-2 hours, but in many cases in less than 30 minutes, and a few record times in less than 10 minutes, they do in fact have a 24/7....! When your site is down, etc, you need help, and quickly... 2. The cust. support has a rating system for customers...A good closed loop system reflects how well they run their biz...It works very well as the cust support folks draft their ticket responses very clear, by real people, in some cases more than one person gets involved on serious technical issues. 3. ROI- I look back at the numerous times I needed help, site down (usually my end) , and realize how much downtime they saved me, look at the cost/savings involved and realize they save me money regardless of the monthly fees. Recently someone told me to move from HG, many reasons, I explained I would loose money by moving...
