You could have it done with in mspaint before Photoshop has even fully loaded and opened. It's already got the right proportions. Just use the resize tool.

Ok, I obviously didn't explain myself well enough. I know how to reduce an image file size and I already have photoshop. I wanted to know if anyone knows any advanced techniques to reduce an image size. For the guy who said convert it to png, pngs are much much bigger file size than jpeg.

I was able to get it down to 86.7 k at 1200 * 632 by saving it with the lowest quality settings in Photoshop but I'm assuming you know that the picture isn't very clear any more. I don't believe it's possible to compress something without losing something.

Sorry, but that's way to small for the quality you retained and file size.

Unfortunately, you will most likely have to sacrifice some quality to do what you're wanting. In Photoshop, I always use 'save for web & devices..." This allows you to preview multiple options for saving. It will maintain the dimensions but compress the file by eliminating pixels. Again, the smaller the file size, the less quality. Good luck!

Yep, I am ok on sacrificing some quality. I want it to about 50k. Can anyone do that?

For PNGs theres a thing called optipng. For JPGs, you can reduce the file size or the resolution of the image (and then bump up the resolution in your <img style="width:1000px; height:600px;">)

But as everyone here says, it'll be hard to get that size down without sacrificing image quality.

Aren't you better off getting a hoster without bandwidth limitations? Like godaddy.com for instance?
