    Hi;

I was having an hostgator account. I was hosting my small sites on hostgator account

The billing period was yearly . I've forgetten to renew account because of other things

I've visited their https://gbclient.hostgator.com/ web site and i've added a hosting package with MONTHLY billing period for the main domain.

I've completed the first month payment without any problem. Their panel did not show any warning while i was completing the payment

I've shocked after completing the payment. Hostgator did not activated my account.

They are saying that i need to pay the yearly one too . That means that they want to charge me double for the same hosting account.

I'm realy getting problems to understand why changing billing cycle from yearly to month becomes a big problem

They have charged me but they did not provide anything for the payment

Think twice about using the hostgator

I've used HostGator for 3 years and haven't had a payment issue. Have you tried contacting them via live chat?

To get the same price you were paying, you would presumably have to pay for a year. Their (almost every company, actually) yearly cost is going to be different from the monthly cost. If you wanted to pay monthly, they should certainly reactivate your account, but the price would almost definitely increase.

How convenient you would provide an affiliate link to the "hosting you use". If you want to advertise, there is an advertising forum right here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=98

You might also want to give the forum rules a quick read: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=rules_general#faq_rules_affiliate_links

For your information my intention for the post was not to advertise. The post is useful. It is not vague nor ambiguous as stated in the rules.

I think that such company like them get tons of new clients every day and that is a pity to say but you might not be interesting for them. So in this case better to find new provider.

Then you should just link to the host's main site...not your affiliate account.

Glad you read the rules, but I think you might have missed something: Affiliate links are not allowed in posts, PMs, or landing pages.

Hostgator is a scam. There are thousands of cheaper and more reliable webhosting companies. I have some VPS's running that are cheaper than Hostgator's shared hosting. Unbelievable!

Actually they need to pay you your old bills, you must cancel your old hosting account with them so that you can sort issues.

you must clear things and get your account clear from pending dues so that they can activate your account.

I think no web hosting company allows changing payment cycle from annual to monthly on renewal. Not sure but it is highly unlikely.

Any company should allow it...there is just going to be a price difference between the plans. Changing billing cycles is not a difficult thing to do.

Did u try their livechat, they are quite responsive in that. I have been using their shared hosting since last 5 years or so without any problems, whenever there is a problem i ping their livechat and they are quick to act.
