Yesterday i was watching a news channel and heard this news that Google Buys Motorola Mobility For $12.5B, Says “Android Will Stay Openâ€. What do you people think Google trying to do???
Google is trying to corner the communication market. I'm not sure it is a good thing, but I think it will be. Cheaper communicaton services for everyone.
Google wants more control of how the hardware interacts with their os. Mobile carriers tweak the technology to block certain features of the OS so maybe by acquiring more of the supply chain they will ultimately have more influence. I'm not entirely familiar with how unlocking phones works but if Google sold them unlocked would that appeal to more people and/or would it not work in the north american markets due to lack of sim cards?
Goolge trying to make their android popular. Apple get a huge success by lauching the iphone and ipad, this kind of product having a big market, google trying to involved themself in this market as well
They are buying up patents in a bid to own the rights to certain technology, presumably with a view to taking on the iPhone big time in the future. Only time will tell.
If you look at the Jan 11 market share of Android vs iPhone, Google's already taking them on big time. The stats are just the US but if you take into account Motorola has 2x the amount of phones in the market than Apple, Google's reach will jump. Well, google have made a really smart move there. Although google buys it, they still work as two companies. Lets just wait for what they will come out with.
